Best Marketplace for M6?
What is the consensus on the best place to find buyers for low mileage/collector quality M6 / M635? I have placed ads on here but have never gotten much of a response. Autotrader / Hemmings seems to never draw real buyers and Ebay is too short of a listing.
Ideas /success stories much appreciated!

Hey cobbs, board moderator here
I don't have any advice for you, but I do think you will get a lot more chatter and responses if I move this thread to the Saloon section
But not to worry, I'll leave a shadow for you as well

If your car is that good, surely the only way to go is the collectors cars auction route?

Re: Best Marketplace for M6?
You can go the US Auction route...
Autotrader / Hemmings are for muscle cars for the most.
Online seems to bring a little less on M635s...
Check out the BAT Graph on e24s...
https://bringatrailer.com/bmw/e24/
Sell it in Europe....
They seem to sell for $10k or more over there than what you get in the US.

That would be great, thank you! What's that section all about?
Re: Best Marketplace for M6?
Thanks for the info. Have never used BAT. Yes, this car will be worth about $65K in Europe. I have a contact in Germany who said for sure he could get $65K US for this car no problem. Euro Spec are worth $10K more than that.brickwhite wrote: ↑Fri Mar 16, 2018 2:43 pm You can go the US Auction route...

Re: Best Marketplace for M6?
cobbs, The Saloon is just a forum for more general discussions, even non 6er related
I saw your ad (nice example ) but thought it would be better to discuss selling options here in the saloon
Hadn't thought about using BaT, but as long as you can set a reserve, you've got nothing to lose
Well, what is it, $99
GLWS
That's what the heading statesTalk women (or men), politics, gripe about your 6er (or other ride), and speak your mind.

Re: Best Marketplace for M6?
Sorry old chap, I’m from the other side of the pond - so I cannot advise where.
However, having watched some of the US reality shows such as “Chasing Classic Cars”, I’m sure that there are plenty of quality auction houses around?

Re: Best Marketplace for M6?
The reserve on BAT is always negotiable. I sold my late father's '71 MB 280se 3.5 Coupe on BAT and they suggested a pretty low reserve. I had done my homework and knew the market a bit better and countered with something $15k higher and showed them my research. They agreed. It didn't matter as in the final day of the auction we blew by the reserve and it sold for $20k more than I thought it would.
Mind you, far too many M6 cars have failed to meet reserve on BAT this year, so I think the reserves have been higher than the market clearly wants. From my observation a good M6 with no stories sells for an average of $30-35k on BAT if under 100k miles. If under 60k miles it will fetch between $45-55k. If over 100k miles, they top out around $30k, but usually RNM around $25k.

That statement is incorrect! It's Bu-- sh--
I wanted a higher reserve, they said no way, take it or leave it!
