1988 635csiA Highline 69k all original, never welded. pampered!
very reluctant sale of my much cherished E24, finished in Royal Blue metallic with Lotus white interior. the most original E24 you will find, never been welded and mostly original paint (looks like nose cone has been painted at some point) 69k miles with loads of history and no advisories on last few MOT's.
everything works as it should including fresh air-con re-gas, all electrics work including headlamp wash/wipe system and the dreaded heater motor! 2x keys, with working key torch and glovebox torch too retro Alpine CD tuner with electric aerial.
recently serviced the auto-box including cleaning valve body, also bled the brakes, it stops and goes very well and is so nice to drive and the seats are the best I've ever had the pleasure of sitting in, so comfy and firm, these were re-died a couple of years ago and hardly any miles on since. original floor mats.
original TRX alloys with mint TRX-GT tyres, no cracks here, like new tyres! has private plate worth a few quid, that can stay with car (FEL 855)
not sure what else I can mention, I'll let the pics do the talking but they don't do the car justice, could do with help on pricing, I was thinking at least £15K but I've seen similar cars priced way over this, want to be fair but not ripped off! I'm in Doncaster if anyone wants to view and will be at the Doncaster Classic Car Show at the Deaf School on 1st July this Sunday, if anyone is there feel free to pop over for a chat!
couple more pics in the link in my signature.

There’s one on eBay for c. £29k. Yours looks to be in a similar condition. I know several have made the mid 20’s, so I wouldn’t short-change yourself if I were you. I don’t see why you couldn’t list it for £23-£24k and see what happens. You can always review it at a later date. GLWS

thanks for the advice, no interest yet although early days and this is the only place it's advertised.. I have seen the one at c.£29k and one sold at auction recently for over £20k or there abouts. auction is always a gamble. thought I would try here 1st for genuine enthusiasts before trying the likes of eBay but don't want to open the flood gates to all the time wasters and low ballers that eBay tends to bring...Pod wrote: ↑Thu Jun 28, 2018 7:02 pm There’s one on eBay for c. £29k. You could try "Car & Classic"
Re: 1988 635csiA Highline 69k all original, never welded. pampered!
Nice looking car that.
I agree with Pod, and would also suggest Car & Classic. Not only does it cost nothing but seems to attract more genuine private buyers and enthusiasts. I refuse to advertise a car on eBay anymore as I do have other things to occupy myself with other than responding to knuckle-scraping imbeciles.
Best of luck with the sale...

I shall try Car and Classic later, thanks for the suggestion! I have put it on Facebook Marketplace too just to see what happens @ £17500, think this is fair.

Stunning car
I'd say it has to be £20k as well if not more
There's one that may be for sale soon at 57,000 miles but it needs paint. A couple of well knowns sellers said with nice paint it would be £25k. Another with 50,000 miles but patchy history sold for £30,000 and yours is significantly better in my honest opinion.

where are all these cars selling on? I haven't seen any selling for over 20k apart from the white one that sold at an auction recently.. thought I'd advertise at a sensible price for a quick-ish sale but no interest what so ever some of the cars on eBay have been for sale for 3 years (to my knowledge)kos wrote: ↑Mon Jul 02, 2018 1:26 am Stunning car

Re: 1988 635csiA Highline 69k all original, never welded. pampered!
I sold it for £14.5k, was very happy with that considering it was an unrestored example, one thing I have learnt is most people don't mind if it's not original paint so long as it's a genuine car with good history and original underneath, in hind sight I should have done a few paint bits to tart it up but felt I needed to keep it original as it's only original once!
sold it to a guy in Essex, nice genuine guy that already had a couple of classic cars so went to right person, for me that made a difference..
funny enough, over the 2 months it was for sale most of the messages I received were from people saying it was worth more, I felt these guys were only interested in their own investments and trying to keep prices artificially inflated, seems like this happens across the classic car scene
Thanks, Mark.

good to hear you got what you wanted
e24 prices are all over the place, but they are moving up. 3/4 years ago you'd have struggled to get 10k for it
i do a few valuations for the BMW CC but they are not based purely on retail value. What an owner has spent on a car improving it is also considered, for example, re paining a car. A re pain on an e24 should cost a minimum of £3000 in my opinion for a decent job. A really good paint job will be £5-7000. Theres no way that would ever be reflected in a selling price but i needs to be considered in an insurance valuation
I don't think people telling it was worth more are doing to to inflate their own cars values, not on my part as i wouldn't ever sell , well most of the people telling you are into their cars for long term ownership and values will go up normally
but there are the traders/dealers who do inflate them, but haven't they done so since time began
for my own selfish reasons I'm glad prices have gone up. I invested a lot of money into mine over the years when prices were in the gutter. So, god forbid anything happens, i will be compensated accordingly.
e30 M3 prices remain static, e9 prices are levelling out. E34 M5 prices are now on the up with touring going nuts. But thats caused by the Americans buying them up

Re: 1988 635csiA Highline 69k all original, never welded. pampered!
the reason I sold the E24 was to buy an E34 M5, I wanted one of these before I bought the E24 but was unable to find a decent one for my then budget so bought the Highline as that was my 2nd choice! has been the best classic car I've ever owned but it just didn't do what I wanted it to do and my hankering for an M5 has just got stronger and stronger so made the decision before prices get silly
3 years ago 15k would have bought the best E34 M5 example possible, now we're up around 20-25k if not more.
..so I'm still looking for my perfect M5!!

Crikey Kos, that's a worryingly mature and sensible post! Mind you, my son wants to learn to drive, so I'm selling our old E36 318is daily to buy a Seat Arosa. Rock n' roll it ain't.

A very nice looking specimen, but (to me) looks very ordinary compared to the 635
Foe example, whoever thought it would be a good idea to replace the an extremely complex and exciting looking quadruple headlamp washer/wiper system (ie as on the 635) with a really ugly rubber carbuncle or a protrusion on the front bumper lol
