Opinions/advice needed!

Post by 87Shark »

Got a question that I need opinions on. I have a trunk lid that has the small foam spoiler mounted on it. According to the gentleman I got it from, Its been on there since new( car was an 85 euro). I need to Either 1. remove the spoiler. 2.Paint around it,(the trunk is the wrong color for my car), or 3. drill my trunk lid to accept the spoiler once I figure out a way to get it off intact. Any ideas, opinions, comments will help. Thanks in advance!

Do not paint around it. Remove it it and remount it it. It should be held on by four screws which have nuts on them reached from inside the trunk lid. Then double sided tape. Get some fishing line under the spoiler and use that to break the seal or use a plastic spatula or thin plastic putty knife all so you wont damage the spoiler itself or deck lid.. Installation will be the reverse

Hi ,
better to use some floss for cleaning your teeth, it’s slightly finer than fishing line.

Got the spoiler off with no damage! Very thin putty knife finally persuaded the tape to come loose. All studs still intact! \:D/ Thanks for the advice, I tried both options first, but ended up going the putty knife route.

Use tape and a bit of putty around the studs/holes when you put it back on.

You could treat any rust around the holes as well whilst you’re at it.
