Windscreen Rubber - Chrome Inserts

Post by Machbuffet »

Hi folks
I’m restoring my 635csi and have left the screens in for the respray. I have removed the chrome insert strips front and back to allow the rubber to be peeled back but the manual seems to indicate that the inserts are fitted to the rubbers prior to screen fitting.
I was just wondering if anyone could offer some advice on fitting them to screens that haven’t been removed.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Barry

The inserts are impossible to fit with the screen in-situ. Lots of my posts on this subject.
They are ALWAYS rustier than you thought!!!!!!

+1, you need to assemble the gasket and insert onto the windshield, THEN install everything together :-k

BTDT, like Ron mentioned, can't do it otherwise [-X
