I purchased this car after a 30 second walk around. It was a pretty big roll of the dice. The kid that owned it said something had disconnected in the transmission and he obviously thought it needed a transmission. He also said he'd gotten it from his grandma who bought it new, drove it for 5 days and the transmission problem occurred. He parked it and a year later I am standing in front of it. I have loved these cars for years and while it's not the one I'd have hand picked, for 1500 dollars I couldn't walk away. The pics are the day I brought it home, pretty well unwashed. The trans issue ended up being the clutch master cylinder. I ordered the part on line, cost me 200ish dollars? I've put 150 miles on it so far and the car runs like a top, once the temp gage gets off the blue bar. I've been super gentle with it though I've only reved it to 5k once. For the most part it's 2-3k. Gentle shifts. It's still a 40 year old car, even if it Is low miles. I've got pics of the only rust I've found. It seems to run rich and stinks like exhaust a lot. Sounds like it might have an exhaust leak but I've not looked yet.

Dumb questions, you selling this Gem? Is there a L stamped on the engine block or do you know for sure that is a M90 engine?

If it is the original engine, it wouldn't be an M90.

I don't actually no which engine it is. Where are the engine codes on BMW engines?
I am actually considering selling it. I need money and something to get me from a to b for both jobs. I love this car and it runs well but when it breaks its going to hurt.... Idk
