Sport Seat "Hinge" Covers

Post by bobinyelm »

1986 US 635CSi Power Sports Seats

I've been trying to find new outer end caps for my 3rd Coupe over the years ( I foolishly sold both my 633CSi and my e24 Alpina B9 years ago) and maybe called "Cover Panels," for my electric sports seats now that I have had my seats recovered.

When I purchased the car a few years ago they seemed to be available by description on ebay frequently, but now not so.

I have been researching the parts on RealOEM and think I may have the right part numbers for the rather oval covers I believe the sports seats should have (vs. the comfort seats). I am looking at this page: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showpa ... Id=52_1696 but it seems an odd titled page (6' E24 635CSi BMW sportseat el.adjustable headrest) to list the hinge cover panels.

Could anyone confirm the right part numbers (in case I have the wrong diagrams at the RealOEM page linked to above)?

I want to buy new outer Left and Right covers in any color. I have black seats but can paint whatever I can find if necessary, of course.

Bob,
I have two black sport seat hinge covers that came with a couple of black sport seats (horrible condition) that I bought a number of years ago to salvage some seat gears (not sure of model year). The part numbers are close but do not show up on the list of parts in your posting. The hinge cover part numbers are as follows:
52/10-1934-682 1
52/10-1934-670 1

I have a US 1985 635CSi with sport seats (pearl beige). I put my VIN number in realoem and got a different series of part numbers for the outer coverings. Link is here: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showpa ... Id=52_0898

The listing shows that Antracite outer coverings are still available for late 1985 models:
52/10-1904-819 $6.51
52/10-1904-820 $3.67

For $10 it's probably worth it to take a chance and order a pair. :-) Good luck.

I think you are refering to electric sports seat covers like the one below

I sent out a PM-

I am actually not particular about color since I think I could use an adhesion promoter and a satin finish paint that would hopefully hold up well enough.

And yes, they are indeed electric sport seats.

It would HAVE to look better than with no cover at all.

Bob,

I responded via PM but was unable to upload a photo of the two covers.

Part #52/10-1934 670.1 is on the left - looks just like my passenger's seat right hand (outside) cover

Part #52/10-1934 682.1 is on the right - looks just like my driver's seat right hand (inside) cover

Thanks-

I saw the link, but it leads back to Real OEM, but who actually SELLS the parts?

It also looks like a manual seat (the adjustment levers under the front cushion and at outside backrest adjustment lever), and my coupe has the electric seats.

Order from any BMW dealer?

I Googled and found at Turner Motorsport for $41- Says fits e30 (e30 sport seats I've seen are indeed manual).
https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-1215 ... -bmw-part/
and
https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-2539 ... -bmw-part/

Used ones is so-so condition appear to be around for about $25:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-E30-Front- ... Swnm1dLvAJ

Using my Real OEM page (my original post) leads apparently nowhere when Googled. There MAY be parts from Belarus but it won't accept my "Country" when I try to enter it on a Pop-Up.

On US BMW Part Sites, I only get "Discontinued"
https://www.getbmwparts.com/oem-parts/b ... 2101934672

Apparently THESE people have some in New Zealand, but you can only select New Zealand addresses for shipping-

I DID just order the LEFT Outer cover from ECS Tuning (Part# 52101934671) Sadly, they don't stock the other side in black.

Just called ECS to verify Part Numbers, and ended up buying the Right Outer cover in Pearl Beige as ECS did have it in stock, which I will paint black. Their prices were better than Turner, though they don't give anything away, either of course. :)

So it LOOKS like I will now have BOTH sides covered.

I decided to leave the top half of this post intact as it's an interesting study of trying to track stuff down these days!

Thanks all for your inputs,
Bob
