Make sure your heater valve is working, opening to let hot water into heater core.

When the engine warms up and the thermostat opens to let hot water to the radiator the hose will feel hard

because it's under presser.

If the valve is working, then you must have a blockage either in the heater matrix or one of the hoses.

I've recently dealt with similar symptoms, mine were intermittent though. Heater valve failed. there is a rebuild for about 15 dollars on one of the parts stores. Pelican maybe? beats the 300 dollars asked for the whole valve. easy rebuild too.

I've owned my 6 for almost 32 years. I tried repair kits twice with little longevity.
Since I knew I would never sell it, and sometimes I would drive it in the dead of winter,
I went with the OEM part way back when and never looked back.

Just saying that be prepared if the repair kit doesn't last that long.
