Today, on my way to work, I heard my car make a single electronic "ping" sound. No warning lights were on, nor any limit settings on the computer. It almost sounded like a warning for an unbuckled seatbelt, except that both seat belts were fastened and that it only pinged once. This happened twice this morning about 20 minutes apart. Anyone have any idea what the car was trying to tell me?

Re: One Ping Only
What was the exterior temperature when the ping occurred? Many BMWs have a warning chime that sounds at 37 degrees F (the temperature at which 'black ice' can form on pavement). If the exterior temperature subsequently rose above 37, then dropped again later the chime would again sound.
Excellent "Hunt for Red October" reference.
