Engine Flooding when turned over 1988 m6

So recently replaced fuel pumps. When the car sits for a day, it will not start up right away. Once i've cranked it over, it smells of gasoline flooding the engine, making it even harder to start. When it does start, no problem restarting it. But once it has flooded, there's no fire. I was told it could be a couple things. 1. ECU is failing, causing the fuel pumps to stay on. 2. Could be a short.

I'm no expert, so any guidance would be helpful.

Could be a bad temp sensor causing the ECU to inject too much fuel. Or injectors leaking. Just a couple of ideas.

Does the M6 have a cold-start valve? That could be another culprit.

I don't believe the 88 m6s have a cold start valve. I'll check on the temp sensor. Appreciate the feedback.

Could be a leaking fuel pressure regulator. If the diaphragm has a leak, it will suck fuel into intake.
