Rare Parts Thread!
The R3vlimited boys have a huge rare parts thread, figured we needed one too.
I will start with the classic mystery part. The firewall harness water shield.

OK, I'll add one. How about the cigar lighter adaptor
for accessories to fit when plugged in.

Re: Rare Parts Thread!
Well, I consider it rare since I can't seem to find all of the parts. The US M6 engine air intake assembly that provides air to the air cleaner box. For such a component, and especially for the few cars that were manufactured for the US I can't believe the variety. I think I've found three versions just on the US M6, and at least one additional for the M635. So BMW tooled up three versions of an intake for ~1,700 vehicles. Interesting.

Any chance you have calipers and can pull some basic measurements?

As do I. And it still lights up, but being analog it gets no signals from the cell towers.
It's times like this that I miss my desktop computer. That's where all my detail pictures of my cars are located.

Re: Rare Parts Thread!
It's old, shamefully filthy and pretty ragged, but here's the phone and console. The coiled cord is hilariously discombobulated.

Re: Rare Parts Thread!
My pleasure. If you could manufacture these for the community that would be awesome.
Just a thought, if you're able to do that--maybe you can contribute a small % of the
profit to the site.
Good luck.

Re: Rare Parts Thread!
Not my cleanest print. was going for speed.
Not sure how this fits in. it does not want to sit down the last 1/2 inch.

I am working on testing for a bunch of different prints that I needed. once they prove to be able to handle things I will definitely start selling them!

Re: Rare Parts Thread!
Did you protoype it in PLA? You could trim it easily if you did.
Once it's right, use a stronger filament. I bought some HIPS to experiment with. I have read it makes for really strong parts that can handle the heat of an engine bay.

Re: Rare Parts Thread!
I have been rocking PETG for my car prints. Its got the best balance between ease of printing and glass transition temp. I messed with ABS for a while since its even better but its so freaking stubborn to print with and stuff like the water shield were cracking no matter what I did because of cooling.

But while we are on the E24 rare parts thread, has anyone ever seen an OEM E24 ski-bag/hatch thing...
