PDF Download of Factory Workshop Manual & Spec. Book

Post by Chris Wright » Sat Nov 15, 2008 5:20 pm

Factory Workshop Manual

Here is a downloadable Factory Workshop Manual, courtesy of DaHose. Thanks DaHose!

It is a 316.23 MB PDF file, and covers the U.S. Spec 633CSi / 635CSi from '83 on, including the M6. It is a decent scan of an original paper manual so the photos are fairly decent, if a little light sometimes:

New Links!:
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B95IxH ... 1FHZl9hSXM
Name: BMW M6 Manual.pdf)
Alternate:
http://www.filefactory.com/file/4kizxtr ... Manual.pdf (File Name: BMW M6 Manual.pdf)

The PDF has book marks for each of the major Sections to help navigate the file. There is one little tiny, slight problem (with old link only), it seems to be missing Section 33 - Rear Axle, but hey, you still can't beat the price! (If someone finds it out of order in the file, post a notice here). New link has Section 33 - Rear Axle included!

Factory Specification Book

The Factory Manuals do not include wiring diagrams (ETM's), Torque Values or Settings and Adjustment Specifications. The Manual constantly refers to these specifications, but omits them from the Manual. Instead, they are included in a separate Specifications Book that includes the Specs. for ALL BMW Models, which makes it as important and necessary as the Workshop Manual. Again DaHose to the rescue, he has a download of that also (116 MB, PDF):

New Link!:
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B95IxH ... XU5LXg3Ymc (File Name: M6 Torque Specs.pdf)

This book is jam packed with info, and besides Torque Values, includes about every spec. you can think of for 3/5/6/7 Series Cars (including M cars) from the mid '80's, so don't let the file name fool you! Unfortunately, there are no bookmarks to help find your way around it. Spend some time scrolling through it just to see what is there.

Great work! Thanks Chris (and DaHose). Long downloads; but very much worth it. Pity the Rear Axle chapter is missing - I just pulled a bad diff apart.

Very interesting, even though it is for US-spec cars

Thanks to a lead from Supercommuter, I ended up at this fantastic online version of the manual.

http://www.bmwtechinfo.com/repair/main/631en/index.htm

I pulled the sections that were missing from my manual and created a new more complete manual that will now include the rear axles, lighting, accessory equipment and even the trailer hitch info. The quality of the pages isn't the greatest but it's legible and FREEEEEE!!!!!!

I need HUGE upload speeds, so I will put up a new Megaupload link from work on Monday.

Since it looks like MegaUpload will never be coming back (thanks, overzealous Feds!), would Chris, DaHose, or others be willing to re-upload the above PDF files to another file hosting service?

If not, perhaps one of you can PM me so I can set up a folder in my Dropbox account for file transfer.

I, too, would be very thankful if this was to become available once more. There are lots of similar sites offering the same service as Megaupload did, so it shouldn't be that big of a hassle!

Oh and... PLEEEEEEEASE!

Ok, folks. I tried another upload site. Here are links to the manuals I scanned.

http://www.filefactory.com/file/4kizxtr ... Manual_pdf

http://www.filefactory.com/file/5z04tgr ... Manual_pdf

http://www.filefactory.com/file/tnjzm9f ... _Specs_pdf

You have to click the link, and keep scrolling to the bottom of the pages to get through all the clicks.

Here is a second link for just the manual. Someone try both and see which one works better.

Edit 1/26/13

While the links above might work, the GoogleDocs links that Chris inserted in the first post of this thread are the best way to get both the manual and torque spec. book. I should be able to keep those links alive as long as Google is around. The files are REALLY big, so if you click on the link, it might look like your browser has hung. Let it sit for up to 4 or 5 minutes, depending on the speed of your Internet connection. Hope this info. is helpful.
