M635 for sale

M635 for sale
Mileage is a little high, but looks to be original and "all there". 2 biggest concerns would be (1) no maintenance records on timing chain/guide replacement and (2) rust check in the usual places. This one looks to have been well cared for and the buffalo hide interior gives it a nice patina. With a little price negotiation .... could be a nice car at a good price

Although never had the opportunity of meeting you, from your posts I believe you have very good taste and also are very particular about quality.
Since you have seen the car up close, In your judgement how will you rate the car from 1-10, 10 being show quality/concourse. As a gauge how would you rate your car on the same scale?

I actually have not seen this car in person (that is a white M635 in my other post).
This car looks really good in the photos (but you know photos always seem to look better than the real thing). If it is rust free, then the biggest negatives would seem to be the mileage and the $2500 timing chain/tensioner replacement that is 50K overdue (as there are no records to prove it has been done).
Positives are that it appears to be complete and unmolested. I would also like to run a CarFax and see where it has spent it's life up to now. That would tell me how hard to look for the rust in this rust free example

It is 500 miles from where I live in North Carolina to Tupelo, Mississippi. I'm trying to wrangle a CarFax to see where it has spent it's 26 years. As you said, an unmolested M635 is very interestingAbdi wrote:Ed,

The euro M635 ('84-'86) has 288 HP vrs 256 HP for the USA M6 ('87-'89). The USA cars also have extra weight (est 200 lbs or so) because of the heavier safety bumpers and door beams, rear AC unit, and the catalytic converter that the euro cars usually do not have.82Abn wrote:This raises a question for me. I know the question is subjective.
The M635 was considered a pretty fast car back in the mid 80's. It is, however, no match for the M3's and M5's of today.

Carfax attached shows where it has lived .... 10 years and 100K in NJ does not guarantee rust, but it means do a very careful inspection for it

Yes, as stated earlier in this thread ..... a prospective buyer should inspect the car for rust (or pay for a knowledgable independent inspection).
