Very simply, they cover/cap the lens. I've seen them with and w/o the word Hella.
I'm guessing they snap in place.
I've also seen them on ole skool hot rods with the word Moon on them. Referring to Wally Moon.
They've been around for years! I don't know if they are made to fit E24's though.
Good luck,,,,Greg

Is something like this what you are referring to...covering up the old glass? If so, feels tantamount to putting lipstick on a pig...just sayin'

YUP! So, when you get your new lenses, maybe use the covers instead of allowing the chips to fall as they may? #-o
Forgive me, I heard that somewhere before. Somehow, it seems to apply.
Then, when you need the lights,,you know what to do, right?
Just sayin',,,,Greg

The plastic cover are not really an option but the clear plastic film is an option and I think mrfixit here has them. It is a clear 11mil film and will absorb the impact of most rocks and not hinder the light output.

I replaced all my lights and fogs a couple years ago and got 3M clear film applied. Same reasoning as above. Is unnoticeable and no issues so far.

There again, if you have badly cracked fog lights, one of these covers can disguise the damage - and surely its far better to have the gap in the spoiler filled with one than just a cracked glass, or no light at all :-k

I can confirm that these are a perfect fit except the the wiring plug which will need to be spliced.
