Brake Wear Sensor Side?
Can some one confirm which side the brake wear sensors are on a US spec 1988 both front and rear. The car is completely apart and harness out and I just rebuilt my calipers and want to load pads but forgot what side the sensors are on. I think it was drivers (US Spec)but would like to be sure. Thank...

Gauge Cluster Circuit Board
Does anyone know if the main circuit board, just board no gauges, from a 89 635CSi gauge cluster and swapped into a 88 M6 cluster? I am refinishing my 88 cluster from a M6 and my main circuit board has some corrosion on it. I have an 89 parts cars and I pulled the circuit board to check it out and i...

Re: Gauge Cluster Finish
DV80R - how did you get the plastic off. I am not sure if I was lucky or not but they came of with minimal effort, a little prying here and there. The glue was so old that is just wasn't holding well. 1 was about 75% still glued and the other was about 50% Be careful though because it seems like the...

Re: Gauge Cluster Finish
My '85 E24 Euro's original cluster had the same look. I assumed it was heat damage since it smeared when I tried to clean it. It was as if the original coating had disintegrated. I ended up replacing it with one in much better condition without the speckles and the smears I made trying to clean it....

It definitely is not flock as I have flocked items before. I already have the clear plastic off so that is not an issue Here is a pic that might clear some things up https://scontent-mia3-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/54525285_2430574597222815_9198407883044159488_n.jpg?_nc_cat=101&_nc_ht=scontent-mia3...

Re: Gauge Cluster Finish
Thank you for the reply but I do know the difference. I was using the term "stippling" because the inside of my cluster, behind the clear plastic, has a lot of texturing to it that looks like a lot of little raised dots. not a a fuzzy coating. Was I was asking is are all these little raise...

Gauge Cluster Finish
I searched but did not find anything on this. I am rebuilding my gauge cluster and have it completely dissembled so I also want to refresh it, particularly the inside. I notice it has this odd texture to it kind of like, for lack of a better word, stippling. I don't think that is the factory finish ...

Cluster swap
I am restoring an 88 M6 and when I pulled the cluster some items were not working like the tach.I replaced the SI board batteries which had corrosion on the terminals and would not take a charge. Since my M6 is not together enough to check the cluster out can I put it into a regular e24 (633, 635) j...

Suspension clarification/info/opinions
I am about to redo the full suspension on my 88 M6 I was considering Bilstein Sports and H and R race springs and I have the SLS delete. Info I got from the BMW M Registry, if I understood correctly, is that a US M6 has the same springs but not shocks as the 635CSi. I can find Bilstein sport strut a...

Re: What??
Source of much discussion! It is the earlier design of tensioner. If you upgrade to the E36 M3 tensioner, you don't get the diaphragm bit you've circled. It is there to deal with the required oil pressure in the timing chain tensioner. I've upgraded. If the timing chain grenades then I'll have lear...

What??
Can anyone tell me what the round thing does on a S38? It is located where I would think the cam chain tensioner would be realoem lists as a "diaphragm" I am curious if this is something I should replace since I have the motor out and have very easy access Thank you http://i230.photobucket...
