WTB Upper Speedometer Cable E12 based
Hey guys! Having a hard time finding this one and I already contacted Elias in CA. I'm looking for the upper speedometer cable for a series 1 (E12 based) 1981 633. It must be from a manual car as the cables in automatic cars are shorter. This cable goes from the speedometer to a bracket/box under th...

Re: FREE e12 based 635 interior pieces
I could use a few small pieces (drivers side arm rest , and any of the chromed plastic plates that go under the arm rests , both driver and passenger ) Sadly I'm in Colorado. If you would consider throwing them in a box I would be happy to send you a USPS shipping label so you can take them to the p...

Re: 81 E12 Based 633Csi Exhaust
Thanks guys. I'll try and contacts some local shops and see what they can do.
I'll try and take a picture of the exhaust manifold later today. seems like they are two separate pieces. The front 3 cylinders connect to the rear 3 in the middle and only one pipe comes out the back.

81 E12 Based 633Csi Exhaust
Hey guys , the exhaust on my 81 633Csi died on me today. Ever since getting this car two years ago I've had a couple of exhaust leaks, one at the beginning of the exhaust system right past the header flange and one or two on the backside of the muffler. Well today I hit a pothole and the exhaust com...

Cooling/Running rough issue help.
Hey guys I could use some suggestions. Car in question is my 81 633Csi US Spec Issue: Temp gauge only goes about 1/4 of the way up no matter the temp outside or how long I drive it. When started cold it runs smooth for 4-5 minutes but once it starts to warm up it begins to run rough and runs a bit r...

Re: Parking Brake Stuck ? E12 Based Shark
Thanks for taking the time to share those pictures.
It does make more sense to have the bent spring clip on the bottom.

Re: Parking Brake Stuck ? E12 Based Shark
Hey guys. I finally got parts in. I ordered new cables , new shoes , new hardware kit , new rotors and new pads. I see in the hardware kit theres 4 retinaing clips for the parkign brake shows. 2 are straight and 2 have a bend in the middle. Realoem shows that the clips with the bend go on the bottom...

Re: Parking Brake Stuck ? E12 Based Shark
Thank you so much for all the replies and help guys! I'll take it all apart this weekend and look further into it. What looks like a pipe that the parking brake is resting upon is actually just a piece of green speaker wire. It was routed into the trunk and cut off. Looks like whomever owned the car...

Parking Brake Stuck ? E12 Based Shark
Hi guys. When I bought my 81 E12 based shark in the spring the PO told me that every once in a while the parking brake would stick but after a few feet it would disengage. I actually drove the car for 3 months and this never happened to me. The only thing I ever found odd is that the parking brake h...

Re: Can high elevation effect drivability?
Thanks Tom. I'm definitely aware about the thinner air sapping power but never really noticed until moving to Woodland Park two years ago. My E46 feel soooo much stronger when I drive to Houston to visit family. I'm not very familiar with the L-Jet system so thanks for the reading. I think I'll repl...

Can high elevation effect drivability?
Hi guys. I just got a 1981 633csi last week (not my first E24) . The car is originally a California car. Moved to Massachusetts in 2008 and came to Denver last year. Denver is at 4500 ft elevation give or take and I live in the middle of the mountains in Woodland Park ( 8500ft elevation ). The first...

Re: New to the Forum
Thanks guys. I hadn't though about the T-stat. Even with a cold engine though would it be stuttering and hesitating ? My old 635 would idle high when cold but it would be a steady smooth idle. I may replace the T-stat as preventative maintenance anyways. Besides a new cap/rotor , fuel filter , air f...

Hi guys! I just came back into E24 ownership as of Friday. I had a 85 635csi three years ago that I regrettably sold to help pay for a move. Came across this 81 633csi on craigslist last week and traded a Karmann Ghia in mid restoration for it. The car has 133K miles. It's originally a California ca...
