Re: Unknown switch underneath radio

Does it pop out if you depress and release it? Looks to me like the switch that provides some kind of electrical isolation although I've never actually known exactly what it isolates lol

Re: 87 M6 Intermittent Braking Issue

Tricky to diagnose simply based on what you've said thus far. Nevertheless, it kind of sounds to me that at least part of your problem might be purely mechanical in terms of something like "sticky" caliper pistons. And in any case, given how long the car has been standing I think it would ...

Probably of little help to you in Brazil, but here in the UK I know a company that can replicate pretty much any hose as long as they have an original to base it on.

Re: Anti-roll (sway) bars

Thanks for the replies , a VIN search revealed that my car was manufactured in August 1984 so just to clarify:- An anti roll bar kit for an E28 manufactured between 82-85 will fit an E28 also manufactured between those dates? I just need to be sure before pulling the trigger. The simplest way to ch...

Re: Anti-roll (sway) bars

Yes e28/e24 interchange but note that the rear bar will be different for '83/'84 models due to the diff cover. Also bigger bars will require reinforcement to the chassis. Reinforcement to the chassis? Is that really likely to be necessary. Wouldn't you need to increase the sizing pretty dramaticall...

Re: Anti-roll (sway) bars

Have you looked in OEM? I'm almost certain they are the same across many E28 and E24 models, but suspect the ones for M cars might well be different/beefier.

Isn't it 15.5mm diameter rear on regular models?

Re: 3hp22 pan removal/ questions

I feel I recall it being a few more than 4 bolts - maybe 6 or 8? - but the key thing I remember is a certain amount of difficulty getting them out ie without forcing too hard and shearing one or more. When I first requested the job to be done my local garage told me they'd had an initial go and were...

Re: Radiator Hoses Sucked Up after Drive

As the temp of the coolant rises it expands. Via the design of the expansion vessel cap, this expansion is accommodated by allowing air (or it could be coolant if the expansion tank is brimmed) to pass by the cap and either exit to atmosphere or be collected via a tube in an separate vessel. And sub...

Re: Ac Charge Ports

What do you plan to recharge the system with? My understanding is that R12 hasn't been available (legally) for many years, but that you can't simply use R134A instead because the the system will get completely clogged up due to a mismatch between oil types each uses.

It seems rather surprising that it can't be repaired. There are some very clever people out there - if you can find them!

The link to the aftermarket one says it's not a direct fit on post '87 cars.

Video worked ok for me.

And yes, it is a very strange noise! It's clearly engine speed dependent and kind of sounds to me like frictional contact rather than mechanical. Clutching at straws, and I'm no engineer, but could a very dry oil seal give rise to that kind of thing?

That was a really interesting read. Probably a dumb question, but what would be the point of retro-fitting fitting a cat? Is it because it is a legal requirement to do so in some US States or would be mostly be because it's a better thing for the overall well being of the planet? It is a requiremen...

Just to be clear, are all three bulbs affected together and to the same degree? Does anything show on the check panel? It seems significant (to me) that the issue doesn't affect operation of the hazards, but haven't really got a clue why that might be. Because it's relatively easy to do, might it be...

1990 635 CSi Auto on Ebay for £35K

Is this a "known" car by people on here? Looks very nice in the pics as presented, although I'm always lightly wary when there are none of the boot or engine bay. Realistically, do any non-M cars fetch as much as £35k? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/204569460945?hash=item2fa14a40d1:g:lPQAAOSw-...
