Anyone know what this is for? It fits perfectly in the tool tray slot.

It looks like #10 in the emergency electric window part

I don't think it's anything to do with the windows.

Whatever it is, it appears to have had a considerable amount of use

So you can fit an adjustable spanner to ease removal from hose.

Having been at Ron's I can say it's very well made but oddly sized.

The hex is just over 19mm so 19mm spanners don't fit but it slides nicely into the long spark plug 21mm box spanner with the round end of the tool being gripped perfectly by the metal spring clips inside the box spanner.

This leaves the hex recessed to about 1mm leaving the whole thing looking like a very odd, bulky flat screwdriver but with the facility to use a bar on the other end of the box spanner for increased purchase.

We just couldn't think of a use where a tool that specifically made could be required.

The tool hole in tray is specific to the odd tool but having scoured t'internet it is different to every other image of an E23 tool tray as they have impressions for a sunroof cranked hex tool and the well knwn hex window tool.

Mercedes had a similar tool for the sunroof drive of early cars where the mechanism is located in the trunk instead of on the roof in front of the sunroof. So emergency sunroof tool is all I can come up with.
