E28 M5 diff in E24 635csi

Does anyone know for sure if the E28 M5 diff will directly swap out with the differential of an 1986 635csi? I have an opportunity for the M5 differential but I will only act upon it if it is a direct swap. I do not want to get involved with changing out the input shaft etc.

Yes it will but are you sure you want a 3.91 gear ratio?

Why wouldnt he? Thats whats in my 1989 635csi. But his will be a big diff & LSD.
