M tech steering wheel swap problem

So I decided to swap “tv screen” airbag steering wheel in my ‘88 635CSI to M tech one. I’ve purchased ‘86 M Tech steering wheel. The spline looks the same. Problem is that with M Tech steering wheel horn doesn’t work until I pull steering wheel like 0.5cm. Same thing happens with the lock - steering wheel won’t lock till I push it really hard. Plus there’s a little bit of play on it I’ve pulled the factory spacer but it didn’t help. What’s missing? Are there different types of E24 steering wheels even with the same spline? Is there any way to fit it into my car?

Yep, I did before posting. I figured it out, the spline on the new wheel was somehow messed up even though visually it was fine. I had to forcefully tighten the nut and the steering wheel was able to go all the way down and fits perfectly now :)
