Central Locking - Mystery Mix?

Post by gte619n »

Gentlemen,

I've really been moving along on refurbishing my locks. I have a 1985 M635CSi.I have replaced the bumpers and have everything back together, but am getting some odd behavior with the driver side power switch. Passenger side and trunk work great. My problem, I believe, is the alignment of the driver's microswitch WRT the locking tab. From my research, it appears that the tab does not hit the switch. Here are some pictures for reference:

From what I can tell, the alignment does not match; however, when I'm looking at some reference pictures of the later, plastic style lock, it seems to match.

Is there adjustability in the position of the microswitch? Could the previous owner have somehow swapped the bracket that holds the microswitch? Or, on further examination, could my lock be oriented incorrectly?

Any insight would be great!

Thank you,

E

Well, after some additional investigation, it appears that the microswitch is not necessary for proper operation. I have connected everything to the driver door motor and the movement of the motor tab itself is enough to lock/unlock all the remaining passenger and trunk locks. I am unclear why the microswitch is necessary in this configuration.

In any case, everything is back together and working great!
