Re: Rear Tailights Removal

I usually push outward on the plastic nuts. Loosen until they're almost off then push outward evenly with controlled force. The studs are in a reinforced area so the lens (unless deteriorated) will not break.

Thanks for my upgraded lights Andy. I'm 😊

Re: Sport Seat Rails

Make absolutely sure that you are buying the parts you need. Manual Sport Seats are different from Powered Sport Seats. Unfortunately frame cracks are usually hidden. I just disassembled a seat I thought was good. Turned out both upper and lower frames were welded. And it wasn't done well as one rep...

Re: AC compressor rebuild/replacement

Look for a sticker denoting AC R12 charge. Usually pass side by the strut tower

I've never had rear AC and that adds to the charge amount.

Sorry I missed that part. Charge R134 at 85% of the R12 amount.

Re: AC compressor rebuild/replacement

You don't need the gauge set but you need the vacuum pump. System evacuation is critical to removing moisture. You want to evacuate for at least 30 minutes to make sure all moisture is removed. The gauge set makes it easy the swap from evac pump to system filling. Also allows for watching effectiven...

Re: Are Front Control Arm Ball Joints Replaceable?

Best upgrade for the lower control arms are e31 (8 series) as they're aluminum with needle bearings instead of a bushing.

Those thrust arm bushings with the green inserts are aftermarket HD type. I think Meyle and could be E32 fitment. Get a measurement of the bushing thickness.

Re: HVAC panel question

I'm working an E12 so it's different. Mine has 2 screws at the top holding the panel in place. I can't remember the e24 mounting as it’s been a few years.

Best to wait for advice or research more so that you don't break anything. Good luck

Re: Are Front Control Arm Ball Joints Replaceable?

The Ball Joints do last much longer than the bushings so lots of replacement bushings available. BMW does not supply replacement ball joints so aftermarket is the only option. Test the ball joint while installed by turning the steering from side to side while holding your hand on the joint. A good j...

Re: Are Front Control Arm Ball Joints Replaceable?

You may be able to replace the boots if the joints are still good.

Replacement aftermarket control arms may last as long as the life left on your bmw units 😆

Good luck Song

Re: Normal coolant temperature

I would recommend a radiator replacement also as the radiator itself is not expensive (here on the mainland) but shipping to you could be expensive. Costs go up as you should also replace ancillary parts. Use distilled water (cheap) and BMW coolant or Zerex G05 Some recommend running just distilled ...

Re: Wanted: Dinan E24/ M6 Strut Brace

Not likely to see a brand new Donan strut bar again. Chances of it being for sale is even less. If Dinan were to resupply, prices would drop drastically so there's no incentive for them. Yes prices are crazy. A new M-Tech steering wheel just sold for over $2k. It's not just BMW, I just sold an MBZ A...

The market is crazy. That is a one-of-one piece that will likely never show up for sale again. Yes its $3000, no I'm not affiliated, but he will probably get it.

These were hacked into the rear upper corners of euros. Also used on US e12 and e21 as factory equipment.

US Side Marker lights are recessed into the rubber bumper ends (like your front amber lights Bobbo)

Depleted memory excuse Yasin. Sending email now

Experienced some odd idle and running conditions on an 88 528e which is Motronic 1.3

Did a system reset by disconnecting both battery cables then holding the cable ends together for 15 seconds. Worked out well

I’m in the process of doing this swap on my 81 e12. It is not plug and play but the modification is simple. Analog clock needs +12V power, ground lead and dash light lead.
