Re: My Solution To Tuck The US Bumpers Give That Euro Look - Pics

Nicely done, Yasin! I have to wonder why, if you aren't going to produce the needed parts for others to tuck their bumpers, you won't share the details? "Sharing and helping the E24 community"? :-k Maybe you intend on selling the details to someone who will offer the parts commercially. I can unders...

You are correct BMW does recommend the bolts are alternately installed in their orientation.
And "pointing" through the guibo in reference to the little arrows/triangles molded into the edge of the disc. Nut ends 'downstream' of the arrows.

$45 per is a heck of a deal. Around here (Mobile, AL) they get 3x-4x that much.

Yes, I was thinking of the removable faceplate type unit. I misunderstood.

Re: Appropriate stereo for 1985 Euro

This thread brings to mind the fact that my wife's uncle, Andreas Kress, was a/the designer of the Blaupunkt radio faces for many years. He and Aunt Mary came from Germany to our wedding in 1980 (and brought us a beautiful set of China). He showed me pictures of his car at the time, an E21. He later...

Re: Stereo head unit interface issues :(

My suspicion is the poor contact is within the removable plate rather than the plate/head unit interface itself. Those have a certain amount of flex within the plate, and the flex is responsible for the failing/failed connections.

I found what might be a schematic or exploded view of an actuator, but it's on Google drive. I've asked for access, which may or may not be forthcoming. https://bigcoupe.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=23155&p=163864&hilit=Cruise+control+actuator#p163864 Scroll down until you see "cruise control act...

Re: Cruise Control Actuator Issue

If I recall, the tension had to be enough to pull the entire cable back into the housing. I'm sorry, it was years ago when I had mine apart. It would be well worth spending some time figuring it out, because a used replacement is really pricy, and the shipping on this one is ridiculously expensive. ...

Re: Cruise Control Actuator Issue

Hello Gents, I have an '88 M6 that I've been working on restoring for the last year. I'm in the middle of overhauling the brakes and while I have everything out I decided to change both throttle cables. When I took out the cruise control actuator I thought I had to open the cover to change the cabl...

What I'd really like is a wide body E21. It's like a miniature E24.

Re: Clock reset

I've seen the same. Makes me think there's a capacitor back-up in the clock that will keep it on for a while in the background if it loses power, but not actually 'running', as in the clock advancing. I do know it's a heck of a lot easier to bump the time forward to correct it than it is to start ov...

Re: I've turned into a flockoholic!!! Glove box redo

I ran into the same "reverse polarity" problem when I converted all the lighting on my two E30s. That and getting a signal flasher that would work on the low current draw LEDs.

What's next on the flock-o-rama?

Re: Refinishing BBS RC090 Wheels - Pictorial and Video

I've been restoring and rebuilding locomotive air horns for 20+ years (thus the hornhospital screen name). I had to quit a few years ago due to health issues. While active I had to remove some truly tough paint, Dupont Imron. Properly applied it is nearly impervious to all conventional paint remover...

Wiggle it from the top and bottom or front and back? Or both? If both, wheel bearings. If top and bottom but not front and back, suspension bushings. If front and back but not top and bottom, tierod ends or steering box.
