Re: Heater blower transistor failure mystery...

Was having the same issue with my blower motor, tried all combinations of transistors, all seemed to fail, my soldering was not brilliant and eventually I 'lost' that little striped resistor somewhere on my bench ! Result , bought a new unit from BMW, lubricated bushes on fan motor and everything wo...

Re: M635csi SGS bonnet gas struts

I replaced the worn out struts on my bonnet, thinking that when you release the bonnet lock lever in the passenger footwell (RHD) that the bonnet would 'pop' up. I would then be able to use the gap between bonnet and wing to then lift bonnet. In reality releasing the lock only allows the bonnet to r...

Re: Lower valance

Goodness, that is too low and too lower profile tyres for the UK. With the state of our roads and potholes those wheels would be wrecked in about 10 miles of driving. And don't mention speed humps and sleeping policemen !! With that set up in the UK you wouldn't worry about the valence you would wor...

Re: What did you do to your E24 today?

Well not quite today.....but finally got round to fitting new odometer gears in the speedometer head and also replaced a link between the door handle and the locking mechanism on the nearside door. I was dreading this repair but after getting the door cards off and establishing that it was a broken ...

Re: Odometer Gears

Hi TimU,
Thanks for the pictures. They are exactly what I was looking for.

Do I assume that the top picture is the first combination of cogs going into the odometer with the second picture the final 'layer'

Really helpful and once again, thanks

Re: Odometer Gears

Yes, I have seen that, but I have all the gears out and it is not that obvious when on the bench where they all go and in what relationship.
I could do with a side on photograph of all the gears in situ.
But thanks for the help

Odometer Gears

The odometer has stopped working on my '88 BMW 635 CSi. After a bit of a struggle I have managed to remove the instrument cluster and remove the speedometer from the cluster. On inspection of the gears to the odometer they have basically disintegrated . My problem now is where do I source new gears ...

I am running , Front & Rear : 17" x 8" with 235/45's - 32 psi all round. I have found that setting these pressures quite accurately definitely helps the steering on these cars. At these pressures I was amazed how positive my steering was even at quite high speeds, there was no vibratio...

Recently my odometer has stopped working. Had similar with my E30. So I am preparing to strip down instrument cluster and replace gears. From other postings it appears there are two gear options. As I do not want to strip down and then identify gears I thought I would order hopefully both and replac...
