FREE exhaust centering ring 18111723532
I bought both exhaust centering rings needed to install my new cat-back exhaust, but only needed the smaller one. The bigger one was only $4, so I'll provide it free to whichever forum member would like to pay postage (send me your address and I'll calculate it). It weighs about 1.5 oz in the envelo...

Re: AC compressor leak ('88 M6)
Great thanks. However, some say the original Bosch comp. is not as good as a more modern replacement. What is the current thought on this? Does a change require new (fabricated) mounts etc.? How do I contact Jay? The original Bosch (once restored) has blown cold for me, but admittedly I don't live ...

Re: AC compressor leak ('88 M6)
I'll second the suggestion to contact Jay - I sent him my original compressor (dead when I bought the car) and he rebuilt it so now it's working perfectly.Ralph in Socal wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 12:40 am Definitely not. The seal keeps the refrigerant in the system. Talk to JCS - Jay Stratton - rebuilds the Behr compressors.

Re: M6 steering wheel
What later model BMW wheel would have the same splines as mine? Don't know off the top of my head, unfortunately. I'd start with part number comparisons of the steering column and/or other components on RealOEM.com. A quick look shows that the spindle for the M6 (32311158120) was also used on: 5' E...

Re: M6 steering wheel
Most folks opt to replace the airbag wheel for an M-Technik version w/o airbag. You may be able to find a compatible wheel from a later series (e.g. e34 or e38), but pay close attention the to spline dimensions as this will dominate your ability to retrofit. I'd also be wary of the "spokes"...

Negative feedback for eBay seller jiten_ranchod
Tried to buy a replica toolkit cloth from eBay seller jiten_ranchod (located in South Africa), but it didn't happen. First there were (understandable) shipping delays claimed due to COVID, but after giving the seller PLENTY of time (a few months!) after that, the cloth was still not shipped. The sel...

Re: Changing steering wheel, Airbag to M Tech I
From what I've read, once the airbag wheel is off, I'll need to install spacing washer(s?) before the new wheel goes on. Has anyone come across instructions for this or could provide guidance? Can this be done? I'm guessing a 30 year old airbag is next to useless, and I can't stand the look of the ...

Re: Complete tool kit SOLD
...However your kit is incomplete. You are missing both the emergency window tool and the blue cloth. So these things should be added into the mix. Hi Bert - I'm not seeing the window tool in my set, nor does it show up in RealOEM for my car ('88 M6). Do you have the part number, or better yet a fe...

Driver side rear brake light lens - SOLD
I just replaced my rear driver side (left) brake light lens, which was in good condition but had some minor cracks. I'm a perfectionist about such things, so part of my tax refund went to a new one ($138! ). Part number is 63-21-1-361-883 / 63211361883, which according to RealOEM is compatib...

Re: Electric winch?
Unless the lift is a fixed 2, or 4 post model, you can't rely on it as an anchor. My car was sitting on smooth ground, and the scissor lift started moving when I tested pulling directly against it. My mid-rise lift is bolted into the floor (boy, that was fun), but I get your point about intelligent...

Ok young man..... You describe exactly what I did, and exactly why I did it. Thanks for the insights, Jose. I'm not entirely clear on your anchoring method, but I'd have to come up with something suited to my garage anyway... I'm thinking a 4x4 or other stout cross-beam bolted into several wall stu...

Electric winch?
I've been considering getting an electric winch that I could mount to the wall of my garage and use to horizontally pull any of my cars up and over my mid-rise lift (about 5" tall when totally lowered, with ramps on either end). God forbid I should ever need this, but you never know! :-k I was ...

Everyone - if you care about this issue (be like Bobbo!), please take a few minutes to write your representative and express your support for this bill. Remind them that vintage vehicles are a tiny fraction of the overall auto population, and are also used very infrequently compared to commuter vehi...

Re: Barn find!
You may be right. At the final price of $14,910 with presumed mileage of at least 118K and an unknown set of maintenance needs, I doubt anyone would make much on a "spruce up and flip" effort.

'87 M6 barn find in Arizona. Not sure of the actual mileage (other that the 118K indicated on the registration) and condition, but for the brave of heart this could be one to restore and flip! Re: Everything You Wanted to Know About FCP Euro
How long before ECS/Turner/Pelican buys them. #-o Let's hope that never happens! Otherwise FCP's lifetime guarantee will likely go the way of the dodo. I've been buying an increasing number of parts from them, and like the "insurance" that this policy offers. Now if they could just get a ...

Re: Slow oil seep from front of engine
PTFunk - Just re-read the thread. You don't mention the mileage so I assume you don't need to replace the timing chain. If so, do the chain tensioner first. I recall I had to remove the original in sections because there wasn't enough clearance to unscrew it from the block in one piece. $6 for thre...
