Re: What did you do to your E24 today?

Took her for the first “long distance” cruise (Ewa Kai to Kahala) about 65 miles round trip. She ran exceptionally well too. Met up with a couple of guys from the local BMW CC chapter and found out there are at least five E24’s on island.

Took the old girl out for a “Sunday Funday” drive to the west side of the island today. Longest trip to date in the 633, just over 60 miles round trip. She drove like a champ! :D 8)

Finally started putting the center console, stereo, car phone and glove compartment back in after 4 years. Lots of “mystery screws” and what not. 🤣🤣🤣.

Re: What did you do to your E24 today?

Aloha all, Well…did a thing today. My sunroof is not permanently (at least for the foreseeable future) a open air moon/stars/sun “roof”. The other clips/cables finally broke. Since I’m still actively searching (without any luck) for the repair parts, I’ve decided to just remove the sunroof all toget...

Re: 1984 633CSi Rises again!

Good to have an easy solution, especially when it's something that was never listed in the official troubleshooting manual. $550 is about 4 hours labour where I live. I don't think that's too bad a price to track down and resolve a tricky problem like this. Glad you're back up and running! Yeah, I'...

Re: Time for a visit to the Car Doctor

Well, I have tried as much as I have time for. I need to get my car back on the road and I am too busy and there's too much rain. Today I received a new Bosch Speed Sensor and also the Programa ECU. I tried the ECU first, no change. Then I tried the new sensor. No change. It's weird, but here's wha...

Soft bristle tooth brush to get the corrosion off the board. Then used a pencil eraser on the tracks. Cleaned up really nice but forgot to take a picture before I put it back together.

Re: Dash lights not working (SOLVED)

Your having lost all the lights points to a ground issue. In your attachments the common point is the ground, through the light switch dimmer. A bad dimmer or lost ground is where I'd be looking. I know you said you replaced the switch with a "known good" one, but is the variable resistor...

Re: Dash lights not working

Aloha all. Searched using the “search” feature but could come up with a definitive answer. My dash lights stopped working/don’t work, to include cigarette lighter bulb, HVAC bulbs, headlight “ON” indicator lights, fog lights “ON” indicator lights etc. the headlights, tail lights, fog lights all fun...

Aloha! Any updates on the LED mod and install for the instrument cluster? Gonna be removing mine soon to replace the odometer gears and want to change to LED while I’m in there. The current display is super dim, borderline unusable.

Re: What did you do to your E24 today?

Picked up another set of BBS rims today. RS740 (5 each). In rough shape but no bends, cracks or repairs. Couldn’t beat the price $250.00 for all 5. Tires are cracked but gonna be replacing after I do something about the lip and faces. Might sell these after I refinish them. Probably at least a year ...

Re: Series one sunroof question.

Aloha! On my 633CSi, I’m trying to remove the sunroof (interior panel). I have detached it from the sunroof panel, so I can slide it back into the headliner. My question is, does the sunroof panel need to be removed to get the interior (headliner portion) of the sunroof panel off? I know there are ...

Mahalo’z anchored. I kinda figured as much but was hoping I missed a post or something along those lines. I’ll keep looking for the required parts but at this point, the parts I find are almost 40 years old like mine and used. My biggest fear is finding the parts online only to receive them in the s...

Re: glass sunroof E24 factory equipment

Aloha all. I know this is a very old thread but does anyone have any info on a glass top or any other pictures? No longer concerned with the electronics and inner working of the top. Just would like to have a “drop in” glass top with frame that allows me to be able to “vent” or “remove” when out and...

633CSi Roof track and or assembly help/parts

Aloha all. Curious, are there any other substitutes from other series BMW for a E24 Sunroof assembly? I recently broke both sides of the actuator that lifts and slides back the sunroof on my 633 (part number: 54121858056) I see that the part is NLA, but wondering is there any other fitment or parts ...

Re: Tint or no Tint (surviving the summer)

Finally got it tinted. Went with ceramic, 35% smoke. They didn’t have the clear ceramic available for the windshield so gotta go back to that done. Overall I’m happy with the look and gotta say it definitely cuts down on the heat transfer through those huge windows.

84’ 633CSi back on the road again

Aloha all! Been almost 4 years since this car was registered. Still lots more to do (AC, odometer gears, interior redo, fitting and painting front spoiler, etc).

Latest projects include tint, suspension and wheel alignment. Just happy to have her back on the street.

Had to step away from it for a while. Needed to get some clarity. Have all the brackets, new Sanden 508 compressor, drier, condensor, fan, hoses, etc. Just haven’t put it together yet.

Hopefully get “in the mood” this weekend to get back out there.

Aloha all, Elias has come through again. Needed an ac bracket, unable to source one locally. ECS Tuning listed it for $200 plus another $30 in shipping. Elias cam in way below that. Speedy shipping from Elias as well. Good to know that there are still a few honest parts guys out here. Mahalo’z again...
