Re: Refinishing BBS RC090 Wheels - Pictorial and Video

Yeah. I need to figure out where I can get the deadly stuff.

I tried and failed and now my wheel is orange using the new stuff.

I think I am just going to keep hitting up yard sales until I find some.

Question.

Is the stripper you used the old style with methylene chloride.

The new stuff is absolutely useless

I found it possible to break the glue holding the lens by tapping around the edge lightly with a mallet. I did end up getting a tiny crack but I think it was from my impatience more than anything.

Your results may very.

there is a shop that rebuilds them. they might have some extra ones.

E28 shares the same cluster internals. if you can find one a bit cheaper that way.

Hope we can get more engagement on here.

Seems a lot of stuff goes on FB now and threads disappear into the abyss after just a few days. Here I can find a thread from 2008 that walks me through solving my problem!

This is the part.

Its under AC on the parts catalog which is annoying.

Re: Help with wheel naming

the BBS RC090 (style 5) was one of the factory wheels for the e24 as well as the e39 528i which makes it easy to find and fairly common. its a good looking and affordable wheel which is why everyone likes it.

Message me and I can drop you the file.

Will need to be printed in PETG at the least. ABS would be best.

Re: Underbonnet (hood) water deflectors.

Already done! I will say this part 3d printed is subject to high temps that can push it into glass transition temp territory even for ABS since the part is thin. I have been running it for a year in the ATL sun and its done ok, but I don't leave my car outside often. https://i.imgur.com/Rx4e3uul.png...

I have a set and am actually going to be in Atlanta soon.

They are not completely perfect but they look good.

Only real issue with them is the tabs that hold them are a bit broken. they still mount in fine.

Re: Group interest - rear light frame seals

I went back and forth on modeling it while I had my tails apart but never got around to it. I won't be near my car for a while, but If someone mails me a gasket I will do the 3d work and research scaling up to doing the casting. I have all the gear from another project but my pressure tank is not bi...

I actually chopped mine and the resonator to get a bit more clearance. my driveway is weird and my car was high centering.

No problems now and no emissions in my state to worry about.

Was definitely the Cat.

I don't have my cat and my car smelled strongly until I went through the effort of eliminating all exhaust leaks.

Still smells, but at least I don't after driving it.

Re: What did you do to your E24 today?

Finally got my exhaust repaired. It had been hanging low and prevented me from parking on one side of my garage due to the slope. Had the shop remove the resonator and raise the exhaust by about 1.5in. With the resonator and cat gone I gained about 3in of clearance! https://i.imgur.com/B9gNGRHl.jpg

Re: Klearz smoked rear turn signals

I would like to do the clear corners. or if possible, buy a set of full clear ones so I don't have to chop mine.

I had really good success with using red tint spray on mine to get rid of the amber.

Re: 4x6 Speaker Option

I had the clearance problem

I used the speaker risers that are out of the rear speakers for the e21.

The glovebox still clipped just a bit so I trimmed the part on the side that was hitting. its completely invisible from all angles

I recently replaced mine with 5/16 fuel hose. and cut it to size. I needed to do it ASAP so I did not bother with the dealer and OEM.
