Re: ‘89 doesn’t shift into 4th gear (overdrive)
If you're in Drive and all is normal, what happens if you select Sport or 1-2-3? All normal? But if it's having a funny turn and you do the same, does nothing happen? Or does 1-2-3 operate as it should, but for Sport it's as if you are in it already? And if your going along happily in D, and D is i...

Re: ‘89 doesn’t shift into 4th gear (overdrive)
So I just wanna add that every other gear works perfectly, I don’t think it’s permanently stuck in sport mode, but I think it thinks I put it in “3” rather than “D”…

‘89 doesn’t shift into 4th gear (overdrive)
Hi guys, My ‘89 has been having this issue when I first acquired it but it’s been an on and off problem. Sometimes when I put the shifter in “D”, the gear indicator won’t light up in the gauge cluster and the car doesn’t shift into 4th gear. I’d be doing 70 mph at 4000 rpm on the freeway whenever th...

Re: 82-87 Euro bumpers wanted
You could perhaps contact Slownrusty, he is doing a similar project. He is converting a US type to Euro. FYI, the US type bodywork is identical to the world bumpers bodywork (world bumpers fit to a US car without bodywork modifications). https://bigcoupe.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=31983&...

Re: 82-87 Euro bumpers wanted
I agree with "635sharknose",I swapped my 86 to World Bumpers about 6yrs ago. As for swapping, much easier then swapping Euro Bumpers. IMG_1567-1.jpgIMG_1568-1.jpgIMG_1563-1.jpgIMG_1564-1.jpg I think some mounting pieces and drilling work are needed for the Euro bumpers iirc. Not sure how ...

Re: 82-87 Euro bumpers wanted
I guess I just don’t like how the world bumpers look on the rear end. It just looks unfinished to me for some reason lol635sharknose wrote: ↑Thu Jun 10, 2021 3:34 pm That's something you do not see very often. I actually prefer the world bumpers over the Euro's.

82-87 Euro bumpers wanted
Hi, I’m looking to convert my world bumper car to Euro bumpers (not sure if it’s been done before) but I’ll need to source some Euro bumpers first. If anyone has a full set (front and back) please feel free to reply to this thread or DM me! If I do manage to find them I’ll have a spare pair of world...

Any rear valances/spoilers that works with a 88-89 world bumper?
Hi guys, So I was looking for a rear spoiler for my car that is an 89 with world bumpers and found something like this: https://www.classiceuroparts.com/product/euro-m-rear-bumper-spoiler-lip-apron-valance-for-bmw-e24-m635i-638-630-635-82-87/ ... which is said to only work with 82-87 Euro wraparound...

Re: 1989 635csi automatic will not shift into 4th gear
I’ve been having this exact issue and it’s been on and off since day 1. Sometimes in the winter it fixes itself. I’ve been to the local BMW mechanic several times, but the issue still isn’t completely gone and they haven’t quite located the issue. I’ll try the fuse thing when I do have the time. Tha...

Re: Thinking of Boston to Montreal round trip this summer in my 89, good idea?
Welcome to Bigcoupe! An E24 is as reliable as you make it. If all maintenance has been done, all the failure points taken care of (and there aren't many), it will take you anywhere. Thanks, the car had some work done to it. The old alternator died and took the battery with it so those were replaced...

Thinking of Boston to Montreal round trip this summer in my 89, good idea?
If it happens it will be my first time doing a road trip in my E24. I just don’t know how reliable they are for road trips. Plus the AC has been sketchy so I’ll probably have to find some other way to stay cool in the car.
