Re: Tool tray and red handled screwdriver

Thanks. If you know anyone that needs a good bottom tray I now have one.

the rag is interesting - the guy I bought it from mentioned he had an old BMW rag in his drawer for years and offered to throw it in.

Re: Power window motor removal - series 1 type

Some general thoughts based on my experience with electric motors: I'm guessing it is press fit, so there is no way to tighten it. Did you have to force something to remove stuff? It seems there are at least 3 failure points: Pinion-shaft/pinion lift mechansim/Lift mechanism If you can access the pi...

Tool tray and red handled screwdriver

I've almost completed my tray - just need the Z tool and wheel hub tool. I don't think my 85 had a tow hook as it has no fog light valence but two two hooks up front. A couple of questions: I have an extra tray but it is different than mine. I'm guessing it is from an earlier E24 given the fuses are...

Re: Replacement battery pack for cordless power tool

Rigid is Home Depot's brand but is an old company dating back to the year1 that they bought out. It is top quality and what makes it super is not only life time warranty, but the batteries forever and if they dump, just take them into a store and they will swap them out. Just make sure you register...

Preventing 30,000 deaths annually or having a well armed populace to oppose a tyrannical government. I am not suggesting that we have one, but would a heavily armed population prevent a military coup in Myanmar? I am not sure if the populace agreed with the military. That is a key point. The assump...

I couldn't say. They were there when I bought the car and 80s BMW air being marginal at best. Especially in Florida. Story I heard way back when was the Germans insisted the a/c was fine so when some execs from Munich came to the states one hot summer they were picked up in a BMW that had the windo...

Re: Heater blower switch issues

Sounds like the control unit is bad. It's easily fixable, here: https://bigcoupe.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=2465 The heater and A/C blowers are controlled by separate units, and the heater one is much more easily accessible. I did the A/C one. I also replaced the thermal breaker and resistor on mine...

Re: Replacement battery pack for cordless power tool

I'm in the cordless camp as well. All of mine are Ridgid to minimize battery types as well as for the lifetime warranty. The impact wrench makes taking off wheels easy, and not having cords is a godsend when doing other projects. I gave away my dad's air compressor and tools to someone who would use...

I have a set of Kickers in the front and they fit well and use the original grill I put them behind the carpet rather than on top. I have Retrosounds in the back and they fit properly. Not exactly killer sound but I’m happy with it and the stock look.

It looks like a T10 base is needed for the large cluster bulbs in an e24. I may try the mod as my dash lights are dim. According to the German thread the LEDs are dimmable.

Same here with USAA. I went with Hagerty for the Shark as they were half the price, no mileage limit and agreed value. I’m sure USAA’s partner would be good, I use a partner for my business insurance.

Grnshrk: what do you think of their valuation tool? I have AAA so towing is not needed.

Re: Classic insurance

I went with Hagerty for my shark. It's an agreed value policy and I looked at BAT auction prices, on line for sale prices, etc. to come to what I felt was a reasonable value. I liked them because they seem to have a good reputation, the price was 1/2 of what my current policy was, no deductible or m...

Thats what I said. Sometimes (usually) it's listed as "et", which is a contraction of the German "einpresstiefe", which means pressed-in depth. Some wheel manufacturers, like BBS, list it as "is". It all means offset. Gotta love the Germans; rather than create a new wo...

Re: The Complete BMW Line Up - Spring 1981 w\ Prices

So an inflation corrected price for a 635CSi would be around £48000. Wonder what a pristine one is worth in the UK today? That's a little low - depending on what inflation calculator you use it would be between £75k and £83k. The very best 635CSi's (Not M635CSi's) will fetch anywhere from mid to hi...

If removing the head liner to do this, why not buy a new one? GAHH has them in a variety of textures and colors. I bought one and am very pleased with it Thanks for the suggestion but I am just reattachning the sunroof liner. All of the cloth is in great shape so no reason to open that can of worms.
