Re: Official BMW Vintage parts shop :D
Thanks. It seems a number of the links are broken. I get a 404 error on the car parts link, an Events and Renting a "access denied" error.

Claimed: Rob Siegel's Electrical Systems Book
As way to pay forward to those who generously gave me some e24 parts, I have a spare copy of Rob Siegel's excellent book: European Automotive Electrical Systems. I bought a second copy by accident meaning to buy the A/C one. It's autographed by Bob so bonus points if your first name is James. The bo...

Re: My Solution To Tuck The US Bumpers Give That Euro Look - Pics
Yes I do. It's in Solidworks and as it is my design that took weeks to finalize, I'm not sharing it. I hope that does not come off sounding crappy but I know it can be copied and then knocked off. Certainly not. You spent a lot of time and effort in a labour of love and I don't blame you for not wa...

Will it fit any 85? Never mind. Went to link and saw it does.

Mine would only do fast until I replaced teh transistor. While that may not be teh cause of your issue it might be worthwhile to do a transistor replacement to see.

Exactly. The 6 has limited space. I found ones with CD didn’t fit.

Re: Ex LOCUTUS the fun and pain begin
Question on the blower transistor. Is the top metal plate pop rivited in place? When I did mine I drilled out the transistor but left the plate attached which made the soldering a lot harder. How hard was it to remove and reattach?

Re: Blaupunkt Barcelona 200
Do the RHD sharks have more space for a radio? My 85 won’t accept most radios as the a/c blower etc. block the back so only short chassis radios fit properly, as i found out when replacing the vintage Alpine in mine.

Re: Blaupunkt Barcelona 200
They look pretty slick, and are a lot less than a Bremen. I wonder if they have US frequencies. My 85 has a real tight space and many single DIN radios are simply too deep to properly fit; and the Barcelona looks like it is too deep as well. I have a modern unit that has customizable colors so it lo...

Re: Glovebox torch (flashlight) rebuild with LED
I found the 2 stack at AMAzon in Germany, except it is $33 for it shipped and I am not sure it will make it by the time I leave Portugal, and they don’t ship to the US. I may try locally. What did you do to convert it to a 2 stack? Was all that was basically needed was to remove the plastic wrap or ...

Glad you fixed it. One thing that would be interesting is how hot do the resistors get, if the check control keeps current through them whenever the ignition is on.

I added an extra bulb holder in the rear lights, and use an original bulb there as a pull up, for the leds. They work fine, and I like the brighter lights, but my dash indicator glows all the time, so not a perfect solution I am looking at a similar solution. Did you wire it in series or parallel? ...

Re: Remembrance of the attack on Pearl Harbor 80 years ago
When I was in the Navy Reserves in CA I drilled at Moffet, in the old dirigible hangers. The Electra, between the issue with gearbox failure causing wings to come off and the dawn of the jet age, never was really successful as a passenger plane and successor to the Connie and Super Connie. As an int...

Re: Elec Mirrors Not Working
A few thoughts: Have you checked for power and function at the loom connection as well? If that is good, then it may be in the physical connection between the mirror and loom. You could check for proper switch function at the switch, and the check for no open circuits through the loom with an ammete...

Re: 1988 M6 Widebody on Bring a Trailer - Unique Piece
The widebody looks nice; For my tastes, I'd have replicated the e30's rear with squared off flares, no intake and had a separate duck tail spoiler. the integrated swooping look doesn't do it for me. I'd also ditch the wheels for some period BBS style wheels. But that's just my opinion; the beauty of...

Electric 1602 built by BMW in 1972
BMW had a prototype electric 1602 they showed off at the Olympics. Clearly not practical but a harbinger of things to come: https://www.hagerty.com/media/automotive-history/50-years-before-the-i4-bmw-showed-off-an-electric-1602-at-the-olympics/?utm_source=SFMC&utm_medium=email&utm_content=ME...

Re: BMW Relay - spendy but is it any better?
As for the circuitry, it looks comparable. The marking are slightly different with the new relay having an 87 and 87b marking instead of just two 87 legs. Also the new one looks like it has 2 diodes. I can make out but one in the original. An advantage for the new relay. My guess is in the earlier ...
