Re: Exhaust manifold

jsspegg,

The exhaust manifolds from my 07/1980 build date Euro 635 are pictured below.
Front and back are slightly different: 1 274 808 HD 1 and 1 274 808 HD 2.
In my last engine build, I used the larger gaskets with the integral heat shields without issue.

Re: M90 Engine - Serial/production numbers, Specs, Pictures

"=============== Specs: =============== Material - ? M90 stroke = 86 mm M30 stroke = 84 mm" Don't get me wrong I would love to put in a M90 crank but this it the crank it came with.. This morning I measure the stroke of the crank and it's 84mm as I assumed by the numbers on the crank. Kee...

Re: Pacific Sharkfest 2020 is happening!!!

Not a lot of notice.
We have six series projects spread all over the shop right now. Won't be our best showing.
However, we should be able to scrape up a couple series one cars and a series two car to join in on the fun.

I believe that transition occurred sometime between 1979 and 1980. Most of our series one cars have mirrors with black bases. This is a 12/1981 build date parked next to a sister series one.

Hi Kurtamine, A couple thoughts; First Fives is a great source of information for our early cars... If you are having difficulty setting the ignition timing, it would be a good idea to partially disassemble the distributor and confirm that the mechanical advance system is in good condition. Probably...

Congratulations Don, Good luck with the house projects. I am sure that you will enjoy having more time to spend with your 635. I have not been able to get my head wrapped around an upcoming retirement so decided to “ease into it” by reducing my work load. All this has done for me so far is make me b...

Your reversed engineered wiring diagram is something that would likely be useful to many of us with early ser...

Hi Lieuwegaal,

I am really intrigued with the wiring diagram you produced of the existing systems. What software are you utilizing for this?
When complete, this document will surely be a great reference in the future for such an ambitious build.
I look forward to see how things progress.

Hi Bob, I did see the re released the Bremem. Nice unit, but I am attached to my old Berlin and would really like to put it back in use once again. It is a conversation starter and correct to the period. I am hoping to see a photo or two of motorhead's Berlin in a sixer. I am afraid my installation ...

Re: 1980 Euro spec 635csi - impulse purchase

Nice looking car from the picture. If it has its original engine, it is no standard M30. The series one 635 cars like this came with the large bore/short stroke M90 motor. These engines produce an exceptionally broad torque curve surpassing other engines available in these cars making them a joy to ...

Re: E12 based car

Everything about this car (with exception to the gauge cluster) points to a series two car for me.
IIRC, series one shock towers are a little more upright (especially the passenger side) and tend to have rounded off or beveled corners.

From this picture, it looks to me like you have a short stud and nut at each wheel. The previous owner must have become frustrated aligning the wheels on the center hub each time they remounted the wheels. Shockingly short studs though.
