Re: Remembrance of the attack on Pearl Harbor 80 years ago
Bobbo, I too think of December 7th every year, 1941 was 5 years before my time. Pearl Harbor, and especially the Arizona and Utah are very stark reminders. I think it might be proper to add some information. That is a great photo of your car with the Lockheed P-3 Orion in the background. However, yo...

Re: 1987 Royalblau Metallic BMW M6 Sold for $110,000 on Bring a Trailer
Been watching these lately, and the prices are climbing. This car was bought by a dealer, who either wants an investment, or thinks there is a margin to profit by. Either way, this car is exceptional.
Someone commented during the auction, "go the garage and kiss your M6".

Re: Gas leak?
Those fabric covered hoses that BMW used WILL fail. I have replaced the fuel lines in both my 6ers and my BMW motorcycles produced during the same era because they will seep gas. They will appear to be "wet". This is a very common problem, and I have even encountered some who have sold the...

Re: Potential charging issues/questions
This might be just about knowing how your voltage does drop with the headlights on since you have been running this car for years without a voltage meter. I notice a similar voltage drop with my '88 R100RT BMW motorcycle (that has a volt meter) without any adverse effects, since it was new. Never bo...

Re: Rough idle/ misfire on an 85
I have had experience with an Audi 5000 that practically would not run due to a clogged catalytic converter. I have never experienced a cat failure on one of my BMWs, but that seems to be a distinct possibility, especially since you have tried to eliminate so many other potential causes. It would be...

Re: Rough idle/ misfire on an 85
Been looking at this thread with some interest, and one thing seems to be overlooked. Secondary Ignition problems. I have had experience with spark plug wires deteriorating to the point where the engine seems to be due for an overhaul. They could be your problem. Defective Spark plugs could also be ...

It is good that the M6 did not sustain any damage, as far as I could see. Nice compared to some of the promotional videos that BMW has produced.

Replaced with a new master cylinder. Happened away from home, so there was no other option.

I get that you have a new fuel pressure regulator. I would put a pressure gauge on the fuel rail line just to make sure fuel pressure is not the issue.

I have had a very positive experience with Hagerty. They are accessible by phone, and always have been most helpful. I have my two coupes and four BMW motorcycles insured with them. The collision and comprehensive coverage for all is at stated value. The real benefit is they charge only once for lia...

Re: CA residents rejoice! (Maybe) Smog exemption extended to 1982 mfg vehicles
This bill went into the Committee on Transportation on February 13, 2019 and has not come out of committee. Normally that means the measure had died in committee. I would be very much in favor of extending the smog check exemption to vehicles newer than 1976 model year. We need the environmentalists...

Re: M6 Roadtrip Down California Hwy 1 - Suggestions?
I have lived in Monterey since 1971 and know the area very well. If you plan to spend a couple of days here, there is plenty to do. Paul is right about the drive down Coast Highway 1. As the time gets closer, let us know about your schedule. This is somewhat reminiscent of 2006 when I found a M6 in ...

Re: Pacific Sharkfest 2018 pix
California vehicle code does require a front license plate. When I bought my M6 about 12 years ago, it had no front plate. I purchased the correct BMW part and mounted a front plate. I agree the cars look much nicer without a front plate. My reasoning is that I don't want to give the police any excu...
