Re: New Owner 1985 635CSI

Wow! What a difference from the 635CSi that obviously needed quite a bit of work. This begs the question about your new M6.

Curious about miles, the car's history if known, and general condition. I think the seller that cancelled on you did you a huge favor.

Count me in too. Will be there Friday for the Big Trees Tour.

Leaving the M6 at home, since my 635 has a smoother ride for us. Should be a great time!

Re: Seeking advice: 1983 633csi

Price sounds a bit steep for this car since it needs some attention in quite a few areas to get it back to 100% working.

I would hold out for a '85 to '89 635CSi with no major issues. Might need to look out of state for it, but I think you will find that worthwhile.

Happy hunting,

Steve

Re: License plate area covers

I have the one that I took off my '88 M6. Since CA requires a front plate, my reasoning was that I did not want any encounters with the police unless is was my idea. I can either send it to you, or hand it over at the PSF in September. A photo of it is on the 2009 BMW Calendar on the December page. ...

Re: Are Values Up?

By the VIN, it is a 5-speed 635CSi. People that "M" badge non-M cars, or do a de-badge tells me something.

On the positive side, I have noticed the prices of M6s steadily climb upward lately.

Interesting, this same car was listed for sale in CA in Nov 2001 with 23,000 miles. Asking price then was $45,000.

Keep me active. I've been very busy lately, doing a major remodel to my house (bathroom, laundry and kitchen), a complete removal and reconstruction. Just turned 70, and am honored that in June Governor Brown appointed me to serve as the Land Surveyor member of the licensing board for Engineers, Lan...

For some reason BMW used original fuel lines having a braided fabric reinforcing. I have had them all fail by seeping gas on both of my 6-series cars, a 5-series E28, and BMW motorcycles. If you can see any braided lines, they all must be replaced. You will also need about 8 new worm-drive clamps. I...

I also have an '88 Canadian M6, and have it certified for California's smog requirements. As far as emissions and drivetrain, they should be identical to the US spec cars.

You give no clue as where you are located, if in California, I can share some information.

I see the 6-series as really a 5-series with a much better body. The 5-series cars get driven for lots of miles, and don't seem to have a reputation for being high-maintenance. Most 6-series cars (I think this is representative of the collector group), don't get much daily use, so the maintenance it...

I replaced the rubber BMW filler piece on the front bumper of my M6 with the front license plate. I know our cars look much better without a front plate, and that the euro cars don't have enough height for a US plate at the rear. I did this simply to eliminate a reason to be stopped (and that it's t...
