There’s way too much wrong with that car. Yes you are correct that it appears to be a euro car converted to US bumpers and it’s hideous. The rear end needs to get slammed by a 40 ton truck!!

Well, with a lot of love this could end up as a great looking Euro.
This car has had a special history, that's for sure.
In the ad text you can read that the car has been owned by the current owner since 1997, who has barely driven it.
The story is that an American soldier took this car to Germany back in the days.
The funny thing is that it was previously exported from Europe to the US and had a special metamorphosis there. It is the first time that I see an E24 converted from Euro to US style.
Did this happen more often?
Either way, it can be a fun project, but the price is of course far too high for that. For this amount you buy an excellent condition, original E24.
For the same money you can buy this one in Europe, from my fellow countryman:
