Front Wheel Bearing Replacement

Post by Kurtamine_ »

Hey guys!

I was looking into doing the front wheel bearings on my E12 based shark. Would anyone know if the early model bearings and hub are able to swap with the late model hub and bearings? I did some quick looking around on real-oem but I wasnt satisfied with my results. Please let me know!

Thanks in advance!

Here are the part dates on the spindles.

Up to 6/1978 https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showpa ... Id=31_0055

6/78 to 9/82 https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showpa ... Id=31_0055

9/82 on https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showpa ... Id=31_0379

From what I see, doesn't look like a swap. The bearings have the same date codes as the spindles.

So what Bob is saying is no as the spindles change after model year 1982 when it went to an E28 chassis
