lowering springs

Post by emac »

On my 87 m6 I swapped to 17 inch wheels and I am using stock springs. The ride height would look better if it was a bit lower. I have been reading about various springs/struts. It seems M tech springs would be great but they are NLA. It seems the H &R may lower too much for some people, about 1.5 inches. I am looking at the bavarian springs that say they lower a little less (1.2 inches). Does anyone have any experience or suggestions for a spring/stut set up that would work. My SLS is deleted. Current picture of the set up is attached. Thank you.

I installed H&R and Bilstein sport shocks on my '88 M6. I love the result: a little lower (maybe an inch), more precise handling.

You can check the bottom of this thread. The picture is not of the entire car - just the front ends. I'm pretty sure acdakar's 87 M6 has H&R lowering springs and my 88 US M6 is stock with 17-in wheels and 235-45/17 tires.

Here's mine with Eibach springs (1.25" drop). I think the H&R springs are similar. Also with 17" wheels.

If you read offerings of springs for sale they all state a 1.25 -1.30" drop regardless of manufacturer leaving themselves some wiggle room. I have B&GS and it sits like the pictures on 17" wheels
