So I've noticed a strange problem with my car. After I noticed my centre console had moved to the side I investigated and realised that the handbrake lever moves to the right as it goes up and that there is a lot of side to side movement with the centre console removed, it moves about 2 inches to the right, pushing it to the left it's centred. However after removing the gator and seeing the lever is mounted with a bolt to a plate which appears to be what is moving, however I don't see how it's mounted.
The handbrake still works fine, however the plate the lever mounts to sppears to have a lot of movement. Can someone advise me on how it mounts to the car as I don't see any diagram of it on realoem and would like to fix it.
Thank you.

The mounting plate may need to be rewelded.

The mounting plate is welded? I would've thought it would be bolted like on most cars but I don't see any mounting mechanism from above and the edges don't have signs of welding.
The drawing doesn't help no as it doesn't include the plate.

Re: Handbrake Lever Excessive Movement
There are nylon bushings that go through the parking brake lever pivot. Remove the lever and install new bushings, I am thinking there the same as the brake and clutch pedal pivot bushings. It's amazing how much slop you end up with when those fail. You will need to remove the cables first, then the pivot bolt. The lever is pretty simple to remove. Let us know how it goes for you.
