How's the condition of the back half? Does anyone know if that back half (resonator and muffler) will fit in an '84 633csi? I could use a replacement exhaust. Any idea what brand that is? Finally, any idea the cost to ship to Santa Cruz California area? I know, lots of questions. Thanks.

Here are pictures of both ends of the back half. There is not a name brand that I can find on it, but it seems to be rust free.

Song, I can cut the rear half in half again, separating the silencer and the muffler if you only need one part. Shipping will be easier. Let me know.

If Song doesn't get the exhaust, I want it. The exhaust on my 635 is all but nonexistant.

Hi Ken, Song hasn't replied in a while so I don't know what's going on. PM me and let me know your address and phone number and how much of the exhaust you want (rear 8ft including both silencer and muffler in one piece, rear 8ft cut in two 4' pieces to aid in shipping, or just rear 4ft piece that includes the muffler/tips).

Hey guys, sorry for being MIA. I was wrapped up in work stuff and hadn't had a chance to check in. I did reach out to both you via PM just now to tell you my situation. As you know, I have a 1984 633. I am not entirely certain this will fit my car so I was hesitating. I know it isn't fair to keep you waiting so feel free to move forward with Ken. I'll figure something out when my exhaust finally gives. Thanks.

I bought three 440lb capacity bathroom scales and a 2x6 to attempt to weigh each corner of my 6. Ideally, all 4 wheels would have been weighed at the same time, but I didn't have that luxury. I figured I could live with this level of accuracy.

Baseline measurements:
Without driver and with ~5 gallons of fuel, including spare tire:

LF 966 lb RF 980 lb
LR 698 lb RR 718 lb
Total 3362 lb

F/R 58/42 %
L/R 49.5/50.5 %

After removing many of the components not needed for the conversion such as the engine, radiator, spare tire, exhaust system (65lbs), empty fuel tank (40lbs), starter battery (32lbs), I measured:

LF 710 lb RF 683 lb
LR 639 lb RR 668 lb
Total 2700 lb

F/R 51.5/48.5 %
L/R 50/50 %

That is eye-opening, particularly the f/r baseline. I always thought that the E24s were closer to 50/50 balanced front to rear.

As much as I love IC engines, especially a straight 6, I'm happy to see a nice car get this transplant. I suspect in the not so distant future, this will be the only practical way for non wealthy folks to keep their classics on the road.

I weighed mine over Police weigh station (rolling) scales in Jan. All up weight including me (89Kg) + full tank fuel - 30km travel + circa 10kg crap in boot (besides spare, jack) was 1540kg; 820kg front axle, 720 rear.
