That's terrible news Josh, and how very frustrating considering all the time you've given the blokes who are working on it.

Here's hoping they're able to sort something out for you.

Ellis.

They have found a faulty fuel relay. They have ordered a new one. Do not know if it turned up today. Do not yet know if it will turn up tomorrow. Do not know if this is the only problem as they believed that a faulty earth was the problem at one stage.

Waiting on an update. I thought Mark was cutting it fine.

Hey Josh... fingers crossed for you.

I'm afraid I'm on shakey ground.

No culprit for the binding brakes as yet, and now the air-con doesn't work despite being re-gassed & operative only the other day.

Could be a control switch or similar. Mobile repairer on his way tomorrow afternoon - so we'll wait and see.

As a result I haven't pursued the caps! Sorry - but I was just too tight for time with everything else I've been trying to get done at home and with the car.

Hey Garry - good to have you on board!

Cheers for now...

hi guys, i just got into the forum, i am from wodonga, just read all the info and it looks like you have it all in hand, probably to late to help out at this late stage, the only other place i would have suggested for dinner is the commercial club courtyard section, sometimes it gets a bit loud but then you can go indoors to the main club, its in dean st. but i think from what i have read its a bit late, i cannot make the trips this year but next year i will be in, i will see if i can at least meet up with you, at this late stage if you need something done let me know

hi, i'm back again, couple of things i failed to mention, not to sure if you heard on the news but the valiants were in town last week and a few of them dropped some black marks around the place and the police here are very hard so watch yourselves, when you go on your trips be careful also as the local town police are always out and especially around tallangatta corryong area, they have nothing else to do but catch speeding drivers

I don't know if I can push my car that fast. Maybe if it is all down hill!

Fuel injection relay along with the electorinic pulse device, a third set of circuits in a small box hidden in the engine bay (on the E9's we are working on the pulse is handled by two points under the distributer cap. Had no idea the 633 had more high tech dick smith style electronic kits under the hood!) are suppose to be turning up today. All brand new parts. May know this afternoon. If the car is still not running by Thursday lunch time I'll need to canel the hotel.

Hi Richard,

Welcome to bigcoupe. It's good to hear from you and thanks very much for the heads-up re the police. Pity you can't make the drives with us but if you're able to, come down to the meet point in the morning and say g'day.

Regards,
Ellis.

Give me a shout if you need any other fuel injection/relay type bits Josh - I've got a box full of various parts, relays, etc etc from when i was troubleshooting my continual fuel pump running issue on my 633 so i can express post/courier anything of use up to you if it helps. Hell - since my car's just going to be sitting in the garage for the next few weeks while we're in the UK if you need a temporary loan of any easy to remove parts from the car itself to get you to the event I can probably get them off and up to you and you can send them back afterwards.

Cheers,

Al

Can I borrow a working 633? :)

just joking.

It appears that the issue is not getting parts but finding what's actually stopping the car from starting. The mechanic gets an idea, we get the part within 24 hrs and then we find that said idea was not the issue. The mechanic discovered that the relay and electronic pulse device was faulty yeasterday. Parts appear to be next day delivery. Once on we see if this fixes the problem. If not more searching and another 48hrs delay and no road trip. Here's hoping!

Thanks for the offer Al. See I knew 633 guys where better than the rest!

Dear All,

Here are details and maps for our Saturday and Sunday routes. Thank you Peter, Sandie, Mark and Garry for putting forward the suggestions for these two great tours. I've made the map links commence from Hovell Tree Park in Albury, and slightly modified Mark's route so it takes us via Allans Flat Rd, Yackandandah etc, as per Sandie's original suggestion, and so that we don't get to lunch in Myrtleford too early for our 12:15 booking.

Saturday 20 March 2010
Meet Point: Hovell Tree Park
Meet Time: 9:30am-10am
Depart: 10:30am
Lunch at Myrtleford - The Butter Factory - 12:15-12:30pm

Saturday Route - (approx 290kms)

Albury - Yackandandah - Beechworth - Myrtleford (lunch) - Mt Buffalo - Bright - Mt Beauty - Tawonga - Running Creek - Dederang - Kergunyah South - Gundowring - Huon - Bonegilla - Lake Hume Village - Albury

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Sunday 21 March 2010
Meet Point: Hovell Tree Park
Meet Time: 9am
Depart: 9:30am
Lunch at Corryong - Pepperleaf Wine Bar & Restaurant - 12:45-1pm

Sunday Route - (approx 350kms)

Albury - Lake Hume Village - Bungil - Thologolong - Mt Alfred - Jingellic - Tumbarumba - Tooma - Greg Greg - Towong - Corryong (lunch) - Shelley - Tallangatta - Huon - Bonegilla - Albury

Alright Happy Campers, I've just spoken with Jenny at the caravan park about our bookings. Ellis and I are sharing a site, Paul has his own, as do Team Sirco.

Rather than Alex pay for another site @ about $30 per night, they've suggested he share with Paul or Team Sirco. Given that the 3 sites border with each other, Jenny suggested we make use of the overlap.

From a cost perspective, it would make sense if he share with Paul, because the rate is $30/site for 2 adults, $13 extra per adult.

Thanks Paul for volunteering to share with Alex!

FYI Team Sirco, $30 deposit has been paid for your site, with $60 remaining.

Lastly, Paul has told me that he's planning to be at the Sutton Forrest meeting point on Friday morning. I'll be at the Yass meeting point.

Just called the repairer. Relay and equipment in and working. They want to put it up on the hoist and check it all out but with luck I'm picking it up on Thursday at 4pm.

They will even try to regass the aircon which I doubt has seen gas in years! Rosie said I should just use mine as I'm full of it!

So, We'll leave Sydney around 12pm with luck. I'll update tomorrow at around 5pm. Yeah gawds I have no idea what this will cost!

HAHAHAHA

Mine went in yesterday for a service and I asked "can you find out for me what the cost of a rebuilt starter motor is?"

"We will call you on your mobile with a quote, yes?"

"Yes please" was my reply.

"and when do you need the car?", they asked?

"Wednesday"

So I just called and found that the starter motor is with the rebuildy people and the car won't be ready until tomorrow afternoon.

Problem is that my plan was to pack tonight and tomorrow leave work and go straight to Canberra. Now I have to pick up the car, pack etc and deal with traffic. Not a happy chappy.

Thanks for getting the camping organised Ben, much appreciated!

I'll try to make it to Sutton Forest in the morning too, if I'm running late for any reason I might head straight to Yass.
My mobile is 0407 24 08 96 btw.

Cheers,

Wow! A lot has been happening!

First of all ? welcome Richard and thanks for the heads up regarding the attitude of the local ?boys in blue?. Particularly in light of the antics of our Chrysler friends the previous weekend.

It?s a shame you can?t join us. If you know of any other local Albury-Wodonga based 6?er owners, let ?em know we?re coming to town.

Well done Ellis? it all looks like the plan is coming together. Those drive look great.

However, I do need to confirm the meeting place at Hovell Tree Park will have to be on the gravel area Ellis has highlighted in a previous post. The contact at the Albury City Council failed to mention in all of our communications that there would need to be an exchange of keys if we wanted access to the grassed area! Doh! So, gravel it is!

As far as dinner on Saturday night is concerned, a booking has been made at the Country Comfort Hovell Tree Motel, Wodonga Place in the restaurant for 7:30 for 8pm. It?s under the name of ?big coupe group?. They have set aside a couple of tables away from the main part of the restaurant for us for 20 to 25 people. The menu looks good with various options & I don?t think it will break the bank.

Unlike our cars which seem determined to send us to bankruptcy!

Ben ? good luck with getting that all started so you can go motoring.

Josh ? nothing like them leaving it until the 11th hour! Hopefully it?s all sorted and ?Gertie? will be getting her full quota of fuel? and the bill doesn?t have too many zeros on it!

Now, my situation. Basically it has simply got worse. The mechanic couldn?t fault the brakes? that started binding on again during the drive home! The air con now isn?t working at all, despite being re-gassed and checked by an independent air-con specialist only 5 days ago. Oh, and by the way the bottom alternator bushes look a bit dodgy! Thanks very much! What did I just pay you around 1,400 bucks for??

Well, long story short? a local auto electrician that I rushed the car to went through my entire fuse box replacing more relays and fuses than Bosch could make in a week, cleaned all of the terminals, measured the amp draw etc etc and now reckons the pressure switch on the compressor is stuffed. So they?re going to have another go at it tomorrow (being Thursday)? but this is cutting it really fine. And to be honest, with the binding brakes and everything else, I think the Gods are trying to tell me something.

So I?m going to have to make a judgement call at around midday tomorrow one way or the other.

Watch this space.

Dear Mark, we hope to see you with your '82 635csi but if that is not possible then we hope you can still make the trip using an alternative vehicle of any make and model. Peter.

Mark,

Keep fighting.

I'll not have aircon. They are road testing now. My aircon is the old R12 so it needs some of the parts converted as well.

Take lip balm and ear plugs as windows down all day to stay cool dries the lips and becomes deafenning after 1800kms!!!!

Hopefully 4pm Gertie is ready!
