AFM calibration?

Post by TrevorB »

Hi Guys,
I learned something this week, a reco'd 633 AFM doesn't work with a 635. It causes them to run really rich, foul plugs on acceleration, and smoke screen your mates (sorry Ellis). Also don't always trust your mechanic no matter how experienced and recommended.
Anyway, can anyone direct me to someone who can service and calibrate my AFM, preferably in NSW?

It is not an MAF (mass airflow sensor); it's an AFM (air flow meter). There is a difference.

I don't think they are recalibratable as such.

You can move the spring tension clockwise a few notches to see if this helps. Make sure u put a dot of liquid paper or something on the original location. I've heard airflow meters needing as much as 7 tooth wheel spots to make good. As u move tue idle rpm will drop

Ideally you would be doing these changes on a dyno to ensure the air /fuel ratios are good.
