Newbie in Sydney

Post by AndrewHolt »

Well, it must be the season for buying 6's. I hope your red M6 is coming along well Will.

Bought my first ever 6er last month - have loved and admired 6's for years...ever since one passed my on the free-way about 1995 doing about AT LEAST 180km/h. Aus delivered in late 86 163k on the clock, 635 Csi in Polaris Silver with M-tech bodykit. Seems pretty well cared for and drives really well with manual dog-leg box. Looking forward to meeting some members in the new year for a run & swapping some info & yarns.

One issue the car has - which is really annoying - is the brightwork on the windscreen is lifting away from the rubber seal. Anyone know who/how this can fixed? Called O'Briens Auto and they didn't want to know.

Will organise more pics soon.

Cheers everyone, and hope you all have a great xmas

You will have to take the screen out to fix this. The brightwork pieces are very soft and get easily bent out of shape. With the screen out, and the seal affixed to it, gently tweak the strips to fit the contours.

When you are happy with the shape, fit them into the seal, and then refit the screen.
They are ALWAYS rustier than you thought!!!!!!

Welcome Andrew, always good to see another Oz car. It looks pretty impressive. Its good & clean and seems well looked after, and a pretty good local pick up too given the bodykit and manual box.

Keep comin' with the pictures mate.

Mad - blown away with your welcoming words and friendliness. Took the old girl for a major service just before Xmas at Peter Mabey BMW at Artarmon. Took her out on then M4 to Glenbrook for a quick (120km) spin a few days ago with all the windows down. Its hard keeping to 110kmh Found out when she's hot the exhaust makes a really throaty, crackling noise at slow speed driving around town. Getting the windscreen brightwork re-set at Ralph Moore at Mascot in early Jan as the brightwork is popping out (seal's deteriorated). Will be right for a run after that.

All I need to do now is figure out to reduce photos to under 2 Mb to be able to post to the forum.....any thoughts gratefully accepted (I'm a technical dufus of the highest order!).

Anyway - I hope everyone's enjoying Xmas.

Cheers
Andrew

Good to hear Andrew. Its always great getting the 6er out on the highway for a decent blast.

Here are some instructions I prepared a while back to help people wanting to post multiple pictures of varying sizes...

viewtopic.php?p=119091&highlight=photobucket#119091

This method requires you to create a Photobucket account on which to host your pictures, and you then use the photo tags generated by Photobucket to display your images on this (or any) internet forum. Photobucket is free to use, that's why I use it.
