Re: What do you think the best looking rims are for the shark?
Does someone know if BBS RS 17" barrels would fit on Style 5 BBS RC090 centers?
I can get locally staggered set of BBS RS 17x8.5 and 17x10 but centers are wrong offset and bolt pattern, so was thinking to swap the centers with Style 5 RC090, but not sure if that would fit together?

Re: What do you think the best looking rims are for the shark?
I don't have exact measurements, but as far as I can tell, the centers should fit and bolt up to the lips/barrels provided the number of perimeter bolts are the same (which I believe is true, all 17in Style 5s being 34). An RC center with an RS lip would be interesting to seerrrs wrote: ↑Thu Dec 13, 2018 6:21 am Does someone know if BBS RS 17" barrels would fit on Style 5 BBS RC090 centers?

Thanks for the comment, just realized that those BBS RS for sale here must be replica's, having only 25 bolts....definitely not worth considering.

Ahoi E24-friends across the ocean!
I am a Swedish guy living in Germany since a couple of years. As you see in the signature, I have a 84' 635 with some smaller modifications but otherwise more or less original state. The set of rims I have mounted aren't that spectacular. Slightly modified 16' from E38 (IS 23 with spacers) with modified caps from the 415mm TRX rims. Makes them look more classic from my POV.
However, the topic rims and tires is a bit of a special interest area of mine and I have collected information on some rims and tires, among other things, for the E24 on the page below. Maybe it helps someone while selecting the favorite set for the own E24.
It is in German but maybe if you guys are interested in me doing so I might look for a way to run it in dual language GER/ENG if it is not to much hassle.
http://www.bmw-e24.com/wheels.html
All you people in the in this thread have presented some interesting rims from which I might like to present a couple on my page. I might therefore contact you directly to ask for permission to use the pic and for specs on the rims and used tires.
Note: I have collected pictures and used them on the page. There might be one or two where I have not asked the person in question if I am allowed to use the pic or not. If someone of you see any pic which belongs to you and which you do not want to have on the page, then please tell me directly and I will remove it. On the other hand, in the same case and if you think it is ok that I used the pic, then feel free to inform me about it as well so that I know.
A quite interesting forum you have here and I have been just a silent reader for a while. Guess I just ended that period now
The forum we run in Germany also have loads of information. Language wise though it might be difficult for you you guys to encrypt it. An online translator might help though. You see the link in my signature below if you are interested.
Best regards from overseas
Peter

Re: What do you think the best looking rims are for the shark?
Hello Peter, welcome to the madness
Nice that you have your own wheel collection website going, always nice to see different examples, part numbers, specs, etc.
As far as using photos from the Big Coupe board is concerned, as a board moderator, I don't see any issues or problems doing that
You could always just reach out to the board member in question prior to using, and if they agree, then fine
If they don't respond, people come and go, so that's probably OK as well
But for the record, we don't have any copyright rules, or anything like that
And by the way, interesting background in the photo of your 6er
Also, I wouldn't assume that we are all across the "big pond", as there are many members throughout the world, down under, the UK has a huge following
Well, OK, across the English Channel
Once again, welcome aboard

Ok, sorry, I did not know that you guys are so 'Victorian' over there

Anyhow, I changed the photo. Better now?

Funky pussy Club LMFAO...sounds pretty smelly like it needs to be washed. It doesn't translate very well. Just a FYI from Nord Amerikanna.
I though it was cool, and introduced a euro flavour no pun intended. But yeah I don't think it needed to edited out we are all adult men here.
In a way this forum is a FUNKY MENS CLUB.
As one man to another bring back the FUNKY PUSSY!!!! Cheers

Re: What do you think the best looking rims are for the shark?
Hello, can someone tell me if 17x8 BBS RS740 Style 42 Rims, need a wheel spacer for the front? My car is a 1985 635csi and appears the inside rim is really close to the strut tower. No tires yet. Thank you

Re: What do you think the best looking rims are for the shark?
You will not only need spacers (10mm or so) but you'll need them to be hubcentric for front AND rear. The style 42s have a hub bore of 74.1 instead of the E24 standard 72.56

Re: What do you think the best looking rims are for the shark?
Okay the front I can see but the back appears to be okay. Nothing really touching in the back.
Re: What do you think the best looking rims are for the shark?
Hi,
exactly which rim are you using? Is there any number on it? There might be more than one version available of the Style 42 and they might have different specs.
Regards
Peter

Re: What do you think the best looking rims are for the shark?
They are 17x8 2 Piece Crosslace Compatible with 01-03 BMW 525I/530I/540I. Rim is a 42 style # 1094377 8J. Having a hard time finding 10mm with 74.1 to 72.56 bore size. Thanks again for the help
Re: What do you think the best looking rims are for the shark?
Thanks, that helps. "hornhospital" was right then. The #1094377 are rims from E39 and you MUST use hubcentric rings. That one is easy. Just search for "Hub Centric Rings 72.6 74.1" on ebay and you will get several options. It might be a good one to go for aluminium ones to ensure that they wont break while muonting. You will not need any spacers in the front. If you would get spacers, then 10mm might be a bit wide (+20mm on the axle) and 5mm spacers with outer centric rings are not available to my knowledge. Mounting wheels without centering is a very bad idea.
The #1094377 rims has an ET/IS (Offset) of 20mm. That should be fine on both front and rear axle of a CS/1. The question is what tires you are planning to use? If you go for 225 in the front then you are fine regarding the strut and I do know of several people here in Germany running 235/45 17' on 20 ET/IS without problems.
The back should not be any problem but it looks better when you mount 10mm spacers there. When you do then see to that you get a pair with outer center ring. This is very important and not all fits as you need some with a very deep centering on the inner side. I use 10mm spacers from the brand SCC on the rear axle and they work fine.
regards
Peter

Re: What do you think the best looking rims are for the shark?
Okay, so your saying Hornhospital is right? He is saying I need spacers, but your saying I don't? Just want to make sure. I did get the hub centric's in aluminum because your right need to make sure they last. I was Thinking 235x45x17 tires. These rims are about 1/2 an inch from the strut without tires and looks like the bottom of the strut spring will be really close with tires. I really appreciate your help and time. Thanks
Re: What do you think the best looking rims are for the shark?
hi,
yes you definitely need hub centric's front and rear as these are rims from e39.
and yes but no, to my knowledge, you do not necessarily need spacers if you go for 235x45x17 tires. It might however look a bit strange in the back. it must however be checked after the mounting of the wheels with tires. In case you do not want spacers in the front, then try to go for tires without this curb-touch-safety ring "thing" which makes the tires wider.
If i understand it right, you do not have any "regular vehicle checkups" where they give you a hard time regarding wheels right? If this is the case, you just need something that works.
In Germany the regulations I know about say that you should have at least 5mm free to the strut, 10mm to body-parts and 3mm to the break caliper and steering parts.

I had this set of BBS RA520’s on the car for a while, but always felt they were a little too “modern” for it...

Racing Dynamics RGP in 17x8.5. I'm on the hunt for a pair of the 17x9.5's for the rear, but they're pretty rare. If anyone has some laying around, let me know!

Those Joengbloed wheels are now under $1000 for the set. https://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/w ... 08637.htmlbilly bee wrote: ↑Tue Nov 27, 2018 10:22 pmThese may not be the most fancy but all magnesium and very light. Very valuable, too. There is a set for sale on CL in Los Angeles right now for $1800. I would love to buy them for our Lucky Dog/Lemons car, but there are too valuable to put on a $500 race car...

Edit: I contacted the seller about these Jongbloed wheels. They are staggered. He thinks they are 16x8.5 and 16x9.5. Far more likely, I think, that they are 8" and 9" wide.
I had a guy ready to pay a fortune for some Hardy and Beck wheels that were period correct for his E28. These are also period correct and made of magnesium. MAGNESIUM! I am tempted to buy these to use at autocross races.

Hi,
I'll just ask here so I don't open a new topic.
I search the forum and can't find it. Please, someone tell me what kind of wheels are under the code 291 lt/aly Wheels/cross spoke/2-prt.

Is this a code stamped on a wheel you have? If so a photo would be very helpful.
If not, where are you getting this code from?

I don't own this car, but I'm interested in it. I checked it by VIN code where it is item 291 with this description. It came with these wheels from the factory. Now it has wheels in attachment.

Re: What do you think the best looking rims are for the shark?
Those wheels appear to be 3-piece BBS RS007 wheels that use 415mm metric TRX tires. At least that's what I see on the side of that tire.
RS007 had a bad history with the tire bead releasing so BMW discontinued their use. They're still in use on many cars but mainly for show purposes. Tires are very expensive
