Re: OBC Decal Repair Kit
For any owner with an Italian spec car or someone who wants to convert I now have new OBC decals -- see picture and feel free to PM me with questions:
Re: OBC Decal Repair Kit
I have an updated picture of the decal installed. All buttons with the exception of 'CODE' & '1' to '1000' are restored.
The process uses the (white) kit first, then applies the black decal on top. You can see in the image the results are very good and compare them to the original buttons at the bottom.
If anyone is interested in buying a kit or has questions please PM me.
Thanks,
Mo

Re: OBC Decal Repair Kit
How durable are they without putting clear coat on them?
I’ve tried clearcoating BMW buttons in the past, and while it works, it imo makes them to shiny.

Re: OBC Decal Repair Kit
Finding the right clear-coat takes a lot of trial and error. Have you used Tamiya TS-80 flat clear?
From my experience this will yield a muted flat look which BMW and Mercedes owners seem to like.
Without coating these decals are thin and adhere like paint. But like paint they will scratch with abuse and stain if your hands are oily -- a clear coat will remedy those problems.
Hope that helps,
Mo

Re: OBC Decal Repair Kit
This should answer more questions. If you use the black-kit only then yes, light will shine through.
The white-kit is added to fix aesthetics of a very badly worn OBC and if you have a very nice OBC then you won't need to use it.
Hope that helps,
Mo

Re: OBC Decal Repair Kit
Good idea ...
Do you have a picture of OBC illuminated in the dark after your repair?
Can you tell how delicate user has to be with the buttons? Are they prone to catch dirt from fingers (it is still some, right)?
