Bulb in AC switch burned out

Post by Mr._Graybeard »

I'd like to replace the bulb in my AC switch. Looks like a 1-watt bulb like most instrument lighting, but it has an odd-looking socket. Soldering a fresh bulb into the mount looks like it would be a pain. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement?

I found the bulb ... it wasn't anywhere in the RealOEM catalog that I could find, but this electrical supplier appears to have it:

My AC switch is backlit blue only when pressed, is it supposed to be illuminated all the time?

Nope. Illuminated only when on.

Since this thread was revived, I have an update. I found that the bulb in the switch is actually a 1.3w "wheat grain" wedge bulb that can be removed from the plastic bulb mount if you're careful. The plastic mount can be quite fragile and brittle with age -- some contact cleaner like DeOxit may help ease the bulb's removal.

The bulb I linked to earlier turned out to be a flop. Sorry about that.
