Cupholder installation - series 1
Well, here's one more item that BMW should have put in these fine motorcars, cupholders
I purchased these from the now defunct BMP Design in 2013, so they weren't sitting in a box as long as my gauge kit was
And as usual, I wanted something that looked as factory as possible, and the map pocket vinyl on the door cards had seen better days, so it was time for a refresh
When I bought new seats, it was nearly impossible to match the original pearl beige, so I also bought a Leatherique dye kit as well, so that I could make the rest of the interior match the new seats
And once I recovered the map pockets and dyed the cupholders to match, I realized that the rest of the door cards was not going to cut it, enter feature creep once again
I think the results look pretty good, MHO applies, of course
And while one photo show that they hold a beer quite nicely, they are adjustable and could probably hold a Slurpee if required
Lemme know what you guys think, good job or weak sauce

Well, guess I've left you guys speechless once again
Seriously, no comments at all

That is just brilliant! Made me smile, too (and want a beer).

Got to be for stationary use, right? The way I drive nothing would stay put on that shelf, clip around it or not.

Thanks for the kinds words gents, factory look was and is always my goal
Ken, I surmise that these will be used mostly for water bottles with flip top closures, so spillage while racing around the hills shouldn't be an issue
Plus they are adjustable, so whatever size container "should" be fairly secure
And they just happen to fit a 12 oz bottle of beer in the narrowest setting, which is the required setting in order to flip them closed

Bobbo
Those look great. The last time I saw you, we were drinking whiskey. Therefore, I am concerned about the Blue Moon.
I am going to check out of BMP still stocks them. I would do the same for mine in the equally sexy Safari Beige.

Hey Dale, great to hear from you
Yes, you are correct, BMP Design has gone the way of the dodo
I think the proprietor was advertising whatever they had left on eBay, try doing a search for Al Hafner, think that was his name
And thanks for the kind words, I really like the results
Don't think a whiskey bottle will fit, however
Hope all's well in Buffalo

Re: Cupholder installation - series 1
Passenger side is finally completed, thanks to having to dick around with the power window, for what seems like for ever
Here's the linky to that saga
https://bigcoupe.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.p ... 30#p231630
I'm really happy with the results and can't wait to test them out
No open containers Ken, or bottles of whiskey, Dale
And while redying all of the doorcards and related pieces, I realized that much of the rest of the plastic interior parts actually appear yellow now
Ah yes, on to my next project
