I've turned into a flockoholic!!! Glove box redo

Well, since the glove box was already removed for a redye, and the inside had seen better days, I said what the hell and decided to flock the inside

The flocking kit is actually intended for this purpose, and since I've got ALL of this experience now, I had nothing to loose, right :-"

I'll admit that this stuff is a PITA to work with, but the results are well worth the effort =D>

One caveat I should point out, or mistake, actually, is that I should have flocked first, then redyed [-X

I managed to mess up some of the dye job and had to do it again ](*,)

As usual, please let me know what you guys think [-o<

Years ago during the resto of an Etype, I took the glove box into a company that did merchandising displays for retail stores. They "flocked me " for $25
Something to think about as they have the machine to do it perfect

Thanks gents, the flocking kit is put away, for now :-"

Glove box is installed, think I'm finally done with the interior

Well, except for the stereo, we'll leave that for another day, or week

Here's how it looks back in place, along with a before and after of the dye job, what a difference \:D/

I finally received the correct LED for the glovebox, after ordering what I thought would do the trick

Superbright LEDs suggested a different version and the results are great =D>

It's almost like daylight in there now \:D/

Hey Ken, why yes it is \:D/

Also a "shark experience" shot glass :-"

I should have mentioned what the part number of this LED is [-o<

BA9S-CWHP5 (bayonet 9mm type)

Again, these are from Superbright LEDs, guessing that's their P/N :-k

And I should also mention that you need to reverse the leads, as the polarity is opposite :-({|=

One wonders why these cannot be made with the correct polarity, a discussion for another day

I ran into the same "reverse polarity" problem when I converted all the lighting on my two E30s. That and getting a signal flasher that would work on the low current draw LEDs.

What's next on the flock-o-rama?

Well, thankfully the series 1 6ers don't have that issue due to the low current draw through LEDs =D>

Hmm, think I'm flocked out for now

Seriously, I don't think there are other parts in the interior or otherwise that would require flocking :-"

Burt,
Was that in NYC or AZ?

Hello Ken

It was AZ. However, there has to be mega many such companies in NYC that build display items

Love your work. Always thought about doing this to the dash to stop nasty reflections when in direct sun.

BTW love the gauge install

A lot of people do it as a dash repair method.

Not very OEM looking though. Works better in a race car build.

Gaz, here's the thread on the gauge installation, and thanks \:D/

viewtopic.php?t=32360

Lots of work and custom wiring, obviously :-"

And that's a very interesting idea, flocking the dash

Fine is in fine shape, as in, no cracks, thanks to keep that silly looking carpet cover on it all the time, except for shows

I think that flocking would hide a multitude of issues, cracks and whatnot :-k
