Any chance anyone has a decent (ideally NOS) unit? This is the euro-style bayonet fitting, not the bolt down one used in the US.
Thx

FYI James. That unit is simply a level sender and inlet/outlet for the fuel lines. I think there’s one in my hoard but I will not be able to check for a couple of weeks. Good luck

Re: WTB: in-tank fuel pump 16141179424
Hey Ralph, thanks for the reply. Might be thinking of a different part though - the above is the Euro version of the 'suction device with pre-supply pump' that works in conjunction with the 2nd / main pump under the car - the level sender slots inside the pump housing. Annoyingly the US version - 16141179425 (note the '5' at the end) is still available but has a bolt-down fixing whereas the euro cars used a bayonet mechanism; the only way i can see they'd be interchangeable would be to fit a US tank. I spoke with my local dealer who said they're on back order rather than officially NLA, though they've been in that state for months, usually effectively meaning they *are* NLA. The E30 equivalent is still available but i don't know if the fitting, dimensions and spec would be suitable (anyone?).Ralph in Socal wrote: ↑Tue Mar 02, 2021 1:38 am FYI James. Re: WTB: in-tank fuel pump 16141179424
Yes I understand. Reason why I would have one is when I changed out the rusty tank in my euro 635. I couldn’t find a euro tank at the time so I went full US system with the bolt in lift pump and sender. I had to supply power to the in-tank pump as the euro system only has a level sender. I had to also change the connector for the sender

Re: WTB: in-tank fuel pump 16141179424
Here's a couple of pics - first one shows the complete assembly with the two electrical connectors (one for the pump, one for the sender), the second pic is with the sender unit removed. I think from what you're saying your euro had only a connector for the sender, no pump - so it wouldn't be the same as mine? I think the earlier euros didn't have a pump in the tank, that sounds like what you had.Ralph in Socal wrote: ↑Tue Mar 02, 2021 2:44 pm Yes I understand. I am considering (though it has to be madness) shipping a US tank over so i can use the bolt down pumps that are still available - got to be a better / cheaper option - if you do have the unit shown here i'll take it!
Cheers
2nd pic with sender out - remaining connector is power for the pump. Yes the unit is nice and crusty on the outside - the inside is worse!
Re: WTB: in-tank fuel pump 16141179424
I will try and lookup the info when I get home but I ordered an Airtex in tank pump for my 87 m6 (usa) and reveived the bayonet one and I needed the bolt down one. Somewher I found another Airtex part number and got the one I needed. I will try and look at my notes and see what was going on, but I remember it being odd.
Re: WTB: in-tank fuel pump 16141179424
The Airtex one that did NOT work on my usa 87 m6 was E8140H, even though the picture by Airtex showed the correct one. It seems this is common. This may be the one that fits your car.
The proper Airtex model pump for my 87 m6 was E8197H.
Not sure if this helps, but it might be worth checking into and ordering one, so long as its returnable.
Here is my review from last year on Summit racing site about the issue:

Hiya - yes I've seen your review but drawn a blank finding the airtex available anywhere - let me know if you know of a supplier that has one!!emac wrote: ↑Tue Mar 02, 2021 10:35 pm The Airtex one that did NOT work on my usa 87 m6 was E8140H, even though the picture by Airtex showed the correct one. Re: WTB: in-tank fuel pump 16141179424
New info for me. I’ve never seen that before. That’s not what I have.
Please get a measurement for overall height and I’ll check an e30 that’s currently in a yard. Thanks and good luck

Re: WTB: in-tank fuel pump 16141179424
You may want to try and contact Airtex directly to see if they are having supply issues or no longer making them. I don't recall any problem getting them a year ago. A quick search tonight rings up a lot of out of stock problems. Maybe Covid has them messed up.
It may be possible to try and rebuild one.
Post if you come up with a solution.

Re: WTB: in-tank fuel pump 16141179424
Thanks Ralph - will do when I get a chance to get it back out of the car; I've nipped all the pipes back up and tightened the tank, it's a pita to get it back out again!Ralph in Socal wrote: ↑Wed Mar 03, 2021 2:34 am New info for me. I’ve never seen that before. That’s not what I have.

ok, so there is this fix that might be worth a try, though i'd have to find the pump they used...

Re: WTB: in-tank fuel pump 16141179424
When you remove yours look closely at the pump and see if you can find any markings. It may be a standard pump that could easily be sourced.

This place claims they have E8197H in stock......cant vouch for them as they came up on Googles 2-3 page! Maybe the actual pumps are interchangeable with your old housing. Might be worth risking a few bucks.

Thanks for checking - I had mailed them but got no response - not the news I wanted to hear...86_6series wrote: ↑Thu Mar 04, 2021 1:00 pm I called Airtex and they no longer manufacture the pumps.
Re: WTB: in-tank fuel pump 16141179424
Pretty sure that's a scam - there are at least two other sites that look identical with different domain names that all seem very new; one of them shows up on a scam checking site with a very low trust score...emac wrote: ↑Thu Mar 04, 2021 1:57 pm This place claims they have E8197H in stock......cant vouch for them as they came up on Googles 2-3 page! Rock auto is showing the E8197H in stock as of today.
Re: WTB: in-tank fuel pump 16141179424
Couldn't see any markings on the pump but it is sealed into a plastic housing so may need to bust that open to get the details. Gave up in the end and bought the US style unit and swapped the pump and filter over with the housing on mine - just needed to unsolder a single wire then unscrew / unclip the bits and refit. The main housing is a bit crusty on the top but still sound and the pipes themselves seem clean so hopefully this is all that's needed.
New & old units side by side (ignore the odd perspective, they're almost identical dimensions) and old unit with parts swapped over attached.
