UK M635CSi #144 for auction with CCA in December est, £28-32k

Post by Pod »

This one used to be owned by Paul (Bispal). I think he eventually sold it around 4 years ago? He hasn't posted on here since.....

https://www.classiccarauctions.co.uk/bmw-m635csi

However, if you read back through the posts, you'll see it had 80,500 miles on it 5 years ago.........as seen here

http://vi.vipr.ebaydesc.com/ws/eBayISAP ... cureDesc=0

Something appears to be awry? - although the MOT history, going back to 2008, appears to substantiate the claimed mileage of 77,100 :-k

Looking back into the mists of time, we had quite a discussion about this one seven years ago or so. Do a search for "144" and you'll see what I mean

I'm surprised nobody has had anything to contribute to this :-k

Does anybody intend to go to the auction on Saturday - or has already viewed the car?

That thread on #144 makes for interesting reading, as does a trawl through Bispal's posts, which identify the trials and tribulations he endured with this car (e.g. draughty dashboard!). I have not seen it, but did speak of it to the chief mechanic shortly after it went through the workshop at 4Star a few years back, and to be honest he was not particularly complimentary about its overall condition.

I guess any prospective and a cautious buyer would want a sale figure that reflects the modifications made to this car, and the subsequent compromise on originality that I feel the M635CSi will be sensitive to in the future.

On the other hand, if they want a full leather interior in a slim bumper pre-Highline car (which is WAY more attractive*), they might shove their hands deeper into their pockets.

Either way, it will be interesting to see when the hammer falls. I wonder, as has so often been the case recently, will it go for a sensible figure only to appear days later on a dealer's forecourt with a 100% mark up.

* Cue howls of protest from HIghline owners...

We discussed this years ago Ron! Click on the old thread

As far as the Highline interior is concerned, I would have liked it far more in Black!

No. It's an M88 that has been modified with the dual timing chain from the E34 M5.

No. 144 went into the auction at £22k - but didn't fetch any bids and passed through unsold.

Just wondered how the car has been "upgraded" to Highline spec? What has he done?

Just the installation of a full leather interior as far as I can tell. I think it may have been done even before the time of Paul Lewis’ (Bispal’s) ownership.
BTW nice to hear from you Ron. Hope you’re well, and my compliments on your Alfasud ownership!

Sold for £30,750. The auctioneers thought it was a £20-30k car, but that was lower than anticipated more than three years ago.

I expected it to go for more! There were three bidders who kept pushing it up by small increments during the last couple of hours of the auction, but none of them apparently went at it aggressively.

It will be interesting to see if this result is an indication of values falling off, or if was just a one-off abnormality. The latter, I hope

I wonder how long it will be before this example resurfaces in the hands of a dealer for a significantly higher asking price?
