The Complete BMW Line Up - Spring 1981 w\ Prices

Post by Slownrusty »

To give you an idea of how long I've loved '80s BMWs, I bought this magazine brand new in March 1981 and still have it today, ..yes..40 years later! I was a kid living in London, UK at the time and it was bought with my 25pence allowance from my parents. Great memories!

I have hundreds of brochures, road tests and literature from that time and maybe one day will scan and share it with you all.

Some things to note...this was long before the M535 and M635 came out and also you could buy 4x316s for the price of one 635CSi!

So an inflation corrected price for a 635CSi would be around £48000. Wonder what a pristine one is worth in the UK today?

That's a little low - depending on what inflation calculator you use it would be between £75k and £83k.

The very best 635CSi's (Not M635CSi's) will fetch anywhere from mid to high teens to maybe £25k, perhaps a little more.

1982 BMW 635CSiA (1 of 100's left from the 1000's made and still valiantly fighting against a rusty grave)

I just realized I used the US inflation rate; using 3.45 value today of 1 pound from 1981; and just realized I used the 628 price; and should be 60K for the 628. The 635 would be closer to 67k for that inflation rate of ~3.1% average per year. Good catch.
