1985 635 Beautification
Finally was able to register after lurking on this site for months when troubleshooting my E24 project.
7 months ago I bought a neglected 635csi from New England and shipped her down to Texas - have been working on bringing her back to her old glory almost every single day since!
From filling my shopvac over and over with engine acorns, leaves and dust (and 1 dead mouse), to going through 10 tub o' towels and about 50 meguiars polishing pads - she's finally taking shape!
From breaking down every drive the first week due to dry-rotted hoses, to even having the shifting arm completely break / disconnect from the transmission while going 35 MPH in 3rd gear - I'm pleased to say that now she drives / idles like back in '85 and shifts like butter!
Glad to be a part of this community after referencing this site for so long now - some photos of the shark below - lots of work still to do!

Excellent work indeed
She has cleaned up well, and I'm a bit surprised that coming from the north east, the tin worm hasn't gotten to her
Welcome to the madness, you've landed in the right place

Re: 1985 635 Beautification
Today I tackled one of the last major projects that I had been dreading for months - replacing the odometer gears! It was definitely work, but not as awful as I imagined it to be. Per usual, lots of grime and dirt where I didn't expect it to be. The biggest pain was removing / reinstalling the knee panel (this always is a chore for me) and removing the headlight wire bundle connector and speedo wire bundle - after almost 40 years, these 2 plastic connectors had really gotten comfortable with where they were seated.
Was a rainy day today in Houston so didn't get the chance to drive and test the odometers workability, but fingers crossed! The trip meter works now at least which gives me hope its all OK

Just a heads up. The hose from the intake manifold nipple to the (Temperature sensor passenger room) is missing, or
it's disconnected and I'm not seeing it. If missing, this is what it looks like.
The nipple is under the center intake collector just under # 18.

#11---https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showpa ... Id=64_0467
The Sensor which you have looks like this with hose attached.

No separate part # for the black cap. You can fabricate the hose to fit the temp sensor.
You have a good lookin' E24.

Thanks so much for catching this, Bob - rushing to finish, I had totally forgotten to reconnect the hose!
Re: 1985 635 Beautification
Update: found some excellent condition recaros and have put the drivers seat in. Was playing around with mounting brackets so only bought a first "test set" - will add in the second seat once the second set of brackets arrive!

Nice revival!
I did something similar last year. A lot of work, but very satisfying!
