Fire. Tragedy. :(
Gentlemen,
I'm not sure this is the appropriate section. Well, I suppose it might be because I had an engine fire and the car burned to the ground:
[CAUTION: This content may be disturbing to most viewers]
I drove the car around in the morning and put the car up after lunch. I came out to my carriage house a few hours later, to find the fire department. It appears that the fuel pump kept running after I parked the car, creating some sort of a fire-prone environment, then lighting up. Total loss. .
Pretty devestating.
So, with that said, I don't think I'm up for a full restoration. I think I would like to take my insurance pay out and then move the car along. I would like to facilitate the car going to one of the major restoration houses or to someone who can bring her back. If anyone has any ideas about how to make that happen, please let me know.

Re: Fire. Tragedy. :(
i have no ideas for you. I'm terribly sorry you lost the car in the fire. Thankfully it was not worse. With an attached garage you were potentially homeless. Count your blessings.

YIKES!
Could have been way worse.
I recently pulled out of my driveway and saw a pool of fuel. Replaced all the hoses but now I disconnect the battery after every drive too.
if you're selling spare parts in ATL let me know.

Re: Fire. Tragedy. :(
Very sorry to see that, very sorry for you.
Tragedy is correct. Such a shame, the unexpected nature of it all. I've had fuel lines split on startup in the garage, but thankfully no fires.
Thank goodness it didn't spread further.
I note the firewall cover in your first pic, with CSi marked on it. Looks good. I've only ever noticed them being a black corrugated cover, is that a custom piece?

Evan - Sorry to read this..very tragic.
Can you share some pictures and the details of the car, a good friend of mine and myself are looking for a candidate for a turbo project...so I might be interested.
I'm located in Houston and have a truck and trailer.
Thanks,
Yasin

Re: Fire. Tragedy. :(
Kudos to your local FD for limiting the loss. It could have been far worse. What was the suspected failure point to keep the pump running? Ignition switch? Relay in the ebox?

Re: Fire. Tragedy. :(
Sorry for the unfortunate fire and destruction of the car, Evan, but it appears your beautiful home was happily undamaged. Quick response is a huge advantage to living in a place with good emergency services. Cars can be replaced easily enough, even E24's. Glad you are ok.
